bulging eyes

Ear
tinnitus - ringing or buzzing sound
severe intolerance of noise
marked hearing impairment

Neurologic
epileptic seizures
headaches, migraines and (some severe)
dizziness, unsteadiness, both
confusion, memory loss, both
severe drowsiness and sleepiness

marked thinning or loss of hair
marked weight loss
gradual weight gain
aggravated low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
severe PMS

Other
frequency of voiding and burning during urination
excessive thirst, fluid retention, leg swelling, and bloating
increased susceptibility to infection

Additional Symptoms of Aspartame Toxicity include the most critical symptoms of all
death
irreversible brain damage
birth defects, including mental retardation
peptic ulcers
aspartame addiction and increased craving for sweets
hyperactivity in children
severe depression
aggressive behavior
suicidal tendencies

Aspartame may trigger, mimic, or cause the following illnesses:
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Epstein-Barr
Post-Polio Syndrome
Lyme Disease
Grave’s Disease
Meniere’s Disease
Alzheimer’s Disease
ALS
Epilepsy
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
EMS
Hypothyroidism
Mercury sensitivity from Amalgam fillings
Fibromyalgia
Lupus
non-Hodgkins
Lymphoma
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)

These are not allergies or sensitivities, but diseases and disease syndromes. Aspartame poisoning is commonly misdiagnosed because aspartame symptoms mock textbook ‘disease’ symptoms, such as Grave’s Disease.

Aspartame changes the ratio of amino acids in the blood, blocking or lowering the levels of serotonin, tyrosine, dopamine, norepinephrine, and adrenaline. Therefore, it is typical that aspartame symptoms cannot be detected in lab tests and on x-rays. Textbook disorders and diseases may actually be a toxic load as a result of aspartame poisoning.

Ever gone to the doctor with real, physical symptoms, but he/she can’t find the cause? Well, it’s probably your diet, your environment, or both.

..... nice find MMG. That's quite a list. Wish there was a way to tell how much aspartame was in each individual product.

Id just try to avoid all "diet" foods and drinks which usually replace sugar with refined sweetners like aspartame. I also noticed aspartme is in a lot of gum these days, such as Stride and Trident.

RE: Aspartame Side Effects
Quote:Aspartame: Missing the Point
Tuesday, 01 September 2009
By flamesong

Aspartame is no longer the just the zero calorie toxic option for diet fanatics - it's everywhere

The soft drinks industry seems to have handed its discretion regarding what it can and can't put in its products to the manufacturers of Aspartame, the former Monsanto subsidiary, NutraSweet. Not only does virtually every Diet variant of drink list it at the bottom of its ingredients but many non-Diet drinks have taken to sneaking it in too. In the UK, the once ubiquitous pop van which delivered effervescent sugar water in a dozen flavours started to boast 'Any 5 bottles for £2 - All Sugar Free'.

The words 'sugar free' stand like a warning beacon to anybody who has woken up to the shady history of this anti-ulcer pharmaceutical turned image faking antipanacea. But recently it has been getting under the radar and greater vigilance is essential.

Once the drink Oasis was a relatively benign combination of water, fruit juices and sugar - with a few chemical additions to maintain its stability in the bottle. No artificial colours, no artificial flavours and no artificial sweeteners. It remained a semi-acceptable standby for anybody who was conscious of what they put in their body even after Coca-Cola took over manufacture in 1990. But some time within the past year or so the recipe has changed and the drink is now described as a 'Fruit Juice Drink - with Sugar and Sweeteners'. Somebody somewhere is surely missing the point! Not only that fruit has its own sweetness but why add sugar and sweeteners?

It isn't just soft drinks which have started to include Aspartame, the staple of many a street-drinker, Strongbow, now states on the side of the can - though not within obvious range of its logo - that it contains 'dry cider with sugar and sweeteners! So, technically, it isn't cider. Why exactly would anybody want to make dry cider sweeter? Why not simply make sweet cider? And what sweeteners were added? Several e-mails to Bulmers did not receive a single reply but it would be safe to assume that given its pervasive use that it is probably Aspartame.

At the healthier end of the market is another unlikely vehicle. Marks and Spencer's Blackberry and Echinacea drink sounded like the perfect combination for any natural health wise customer - described it as, 'spring water infused with natural blackberry flavour and extract of echinacea'. Or their Strawberry and Aloe Vera drink - described equally enticingly thus, 'spring water infused with natural strawberry flavour and extract of aloe vera'. But here again, Aspartame is an unwelcome invader. Surely nobody who is concerned about buying a drink which is naturally flavoured and is enlightened to the health benefits of echinacea or aloe vera is going to want a drink which contains them to be unnaturally contaminated in this way.

Marks and Spencer may be trying to board the health food bandwagon but one company which is surely not is Nelson's, purveyors of homeopathic and herbal remedies since 1860 and now parent company of Bach Flower Remedies, the preparations of Edward Bach. One of their most successful products is Rescue Remedy and they recently launched a new product based on this, Rescue Pastilles. It was something of a shock to find that even here - deep in the heart of natural medicine - Aspartame was being added. Here at least the company, though reluctant to concede that there are any health issues with Aspartame, stated by e-mail that the product was being reformulated without it and though it stated that the new formulation would be on sale by Spring 2007 - though it ought to be pointed out that it has not been evident.

There are clues to why it seems to be finding its way into everything. The patent expired in 1992 and global production has soared. Wikipedia quotes the Holland Sweetener Company who stated that they had stopped making the chemical in late 2006 because 'global (A)spartame markets are facing structural oversupply, which has caused worldwide strong price erosion over the last 5 years' making the business 'persistently unprofitable'. So, supply exceeds demand. The consumer must be force fed a product which has the reputation of one of the most dangerous food additives because it is being manufactured to excess.

Update

Nelson's, the parent company of Bach, have now reformulated their Rescue Pastilles to exclude Aspartame and are now sweetened with xylitol - a naturally occuring sugar alcohol found in the fibres of fruit and vegetables. The tins with the new formulation are very similar but san easily be identified as the Rescue Pastilles containing Aspartame have the words PASTILLES WITH SWEETENERS (plural) whereas those with the new formulation have the words PASTILLES WITH SWEETENENER (singular). If in doubt, check the ingredients on the back.

IF:
NO SUGAR = Avoid
NO ADDED SUGAR = check the label.
NO ARTIFICIAL ADDITIVES OR SWEETENERS = Enjoy!!

haver the sugary stuff. its saturated fats you need to watch out for. normal sugars are fine and good for you. its all about how much!!

RE: Aspartame Side Effects
A number of scientific organizations have analyzed aspartame for possible side effects. Aspartame contains no ethanol or pectin, therefore the methanol is converted to formaldehyde and formic acid.Aspartame changes the ratio of amino acids in the blood, blocking or lowering the levels of serotonin, tyrosine, dopamine, norepinephrine, and adrenaline.

RE: Aspartame Side Effects
The Aspartame Detoxification Program demonstrates the most effective way to reverse disease symptoms is removing the underlying cause - aspartame.

I counsel aspartame victims worldwide and have witnessed nine out of 10 clients restore their health by following the Aspartame Detoxification Program. Begin with detoxifying your body of all residual chemical toxins from aspartame's chemical make up of phenylalanine, aspartic acid and methanol and their toxic by-products, and see if any adverse health symptoms remain. Try the Aspartame Detoxification Program, and within 30 days your symptoms should disappear.

Steps:

1. Remove all sugar-free products with aspartame from your diet.
2. Learn to 'read' your body. Begin recording any health changes.
3. Get a hair analysis.
4. Be happy with yourself.
5. Detoxify.
6. Restore depleted nutrients.
7. Exercise and get plenty of rest.
8. Eat 75% raw foods at every meal.
9. Drink water, water, water.
10. Get control of your life.

I designed this Ten Step Program to help protect your health and the health of those you love from being seduced by the sugar-free diet craze. Wishing you good health.

RE: Aspartame Side Effects
Vitamins are a ridiculous concept. Watch out for those Flintstone vitamins they're just about the worst thing you could suck down. REAL Vitamin D is only rendered with cholesterol by sunlight. A lot of them are in plastic capsules, shipped in plastic containers, loaded with preservatives and aluminum, contain less than a gram of substance and are not always readily absorbed so you end up having expensive urine.

Buy real food - it tastes better and is more filling! Or better yet grow your own.

Thumbs Up  RE: Aspartame Side Effects
You won't get enough vitamins in real food, so vitamin suppliments are what is needed. You can get quality vitamins but like anything else you will have to expend some effort.

"You won't get enough vitamins in real food"

Stop right there dude .. How do you KNOW that?

Were you told by a doctor or an expert?
Do you speak to your cells?
Do you have a deep understanding of biochemistry?

And if "You" refers to everyone -- how does one know what they are intaking or is food inherently incapable of providing sufficient nutrition.

Edit:
That said, no one has died from a vitamin OD. I just feel you are better off getting stuff straight from a whole food - especially from a economic standpoint. Vitamins are good for supplementing emergency rations since they have a pretty good shelf life but the best ones will go bad quick. And Vitamins is a BIG topic so I guess we can't paint them all with the same stroke. I am only speaking intuitively and from personal experience citing my health, my wallet and the colour of my urine as reference.

RE: Aspartame Side Effects
It really is getting put into everything. Years back I was terrible for drinking Diet-Coke and chewing "Sugar Free" gum. Gladly I put a stop to it, but the damage has been done.

What bothers me is things like this...

In the UK Robinson's Fruit Juice (Cordial) produces a "Sugar Free" version, which as you'd expect, contains Aspartame. But the thing is, when you check the sugared drink, you also find Aspartame added!
