Pro-life groups call for Pepsi boycott over aborted fetal cell lines
Scores of prolife groups are calling for a public boycott of food giant, PepsiCo, due to its partnership with Senomyx, a biotech company that uses aborted fetal cells in the research and development of artificial flavor enhancers.

LifeSiteNews previously reported on Senomyx’s partnership with major food corporations, most notably PepsiCo, Kraft Foods, and Nestlé.

Pro-life watchdog group, Children of God for Life (CGL), is now joined by major pro-life organizations calling upon the public to target PepsiCo in a boycott.

Pepsi is funding the research and development, and paying royalties to Senomyx, which uses HEK-293 (human embryonic kidney cells) to produce flavor enhancers for Pepsi beverages.

“Using isolated human taste receptors we created proprietary taste receptor-based assay systems that provide a biochemical or electronic readout when a flavor ingredient interacts with the receptor,” says the Senomyx website.

“What they do not tell the public is that they are using HEK 293 – human embryonic kidney cells taken from an electively aborted baby to produce those receptors,” stated Debi Vinnedge, President for CGL, the watch dog group that has been monitoring the use of aborted fetal material in medical products and cosmetics for years.

The aborted fetal cells are not in the product itself. However, “there are many options PepsiCo could be using instead of aborted fetal cells,” noted Vinnedge.

The revelation about Senomyx’s research techniques motivated Campbell Soup to sever all relations with Senomyx.

However, PepsiCo continues their business relationship despite the abortion connection. They drew public ire earlier this year when they responded, saying, “our collaboration with Senomyx is strictly limited to creating lower-calorie, great-tasting beverages for consumers.”

When pressed further, PepsiCo sent out a form letter response saying they had been accused of conducting aborted fetal tissue research.

Bradley Mattes, executive director of Life Issues Institute, said, “While aborted fetal cells aren’t actually in the product itself, the close relationship is enough to repulse most consumers. To our knowledge, this is the first time a food product has been publicly associated with abortion.”

The pro-life groups noted that additional companies collaborating with Senomyx will be targeted for boycott next.

The pro-life organizations are asking the public to boycott all Pepsi drink products and encourage consumers to contact Pepsi management requesting that they sever all ties with Senomyx.

RE: Pro-life groups call for Pepsi boycott over aborted fetal cell lines
From a previous post.. if you want to go full out..

Quote:All soda is poison so I won't even bother listing them.

Pepsi Co. owns Frito Lay, Tropicana, Quaker, Aquafina, Fruitworks, Lipton, Ethos, Dole, SoBe, Starbucks, Gatorade (which was originally created at Florida State University, tasted like piss but was actually a healthy athlete drink), Propel Fitness Water and Sierra. Pepsi is making a play into the 100% natural health food market with TrueNorth nuts and Flatearth brand. And natural juices with Pure Valencia and Naked Earth.

Also curious to see these products Natural Cheetos, Natural Tostidos and Natural Lays and disappointed, but not surprised, to see Miss Vickie's (I like those Jalapeno Chips) on their protfolio.

In the cereal market they Cap'n Crunch, Sugar Puffs and Life.

In a current promo they are buying up rainforest with the Cool Earth program which claims to have "rescued" 93 million acres of rain forest in 2009 alone. I wonder who actually owns the land title though. How noble buying up rainforest to protect us from that poisonous CO2.

The MMR 1 & 2 jabs in the UK also contain such cells, which is why I informed our health visitor that asides from all the poisons added, which after she started looking into it shocked her, but she was even more shocked to hear that aborted human cells are also used.

But why only Pepsico? Why not the others?

I don't think that the other mega-companies are innocent of such practices. Chances are this is an Anti-Pepsico campaign for the benefit of some other corporation(s) as bad as the former or even worse..

That is a very good point bristopen, but I do think we have to start somewhere and this is as good a place to start as any.
I for one will be boycotting them and will try my best to persuade friends and family to also do so.
Thank you for this thread Drummer.

Just boycott any products with BPA in the packaging (can lining and plastic bottles), that will cut out any possibility of competitors benefiting.

Precisely and it is this that is most likely the cause of the huge surge in Autism from MMR with the previous use of thimerasol a contributing factor.

Dead baby eyes are a growth medium for the live virus along with other things such as caterpillar eggs. I've reports that this leads to set up allergic reactions when taken young. I haven't seen anything conclusive on the Autism angle, only coincidental and it may not be the sole factor but I wouldn't be surprised it wreaks all sorts of havoc with immune systems, development and all that jazz with this chemical cocktail.

RE: Pro-life groups call for Pepsi boycott over aborted fetal cell lines
Also the cell lines used originated from the involuntary abortion of the foetus of a psychiatric patient from the 70s, as far is the information suggests.

FT, I have seen more than one research paper which suggests a link between aborted foetus cell lines and autism. Will dig up an article on this.

Yea, this I also knew...well, not the specifics as to where, but the how...abortion, this I think was what really shocked the health visitor, especially as the ingredients sheets she'd passed along to me in an attempt to reassure was simply "translated" into understandable English (such as "Aluminium based, contains Fluorine) and returned.

Re: the MMR and Autism...gladly finally there is information coming out regrading this, and more independent studies are being done, which is way past due.

RE: Pro-life groups call for Pepsi boycott over aborted fetal cell lines
Quote:Oklahoma lawmaker wants to stop Pepsi from using aborted fetus cells in soda flavoring research
Thursday, January 26, 2012 by: Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

(NaturalNews) In order to simulate various flavors in processed foods, some food manufacturers are actually using aborted fetal cells to test and produce these artificial chemical enhancers that millions of Americans consume every single day. Concerned about the ethical and moral implications of such a process, Oklahoma Senator Ralph Shortey has introduced new legislation to prohibit this practice from occurring in his home state.

Senomyx, a California-based biotechnology company that specializes in developing food flavorings, is one such company that uses aborted embryonic cells to create "isolated human taste receptors," which are used in the production of food chemicals. And this company has partnered with several major food manufacturers, including Kraft, PepsiCo, and Nestle (http://www.naturalnews.com/032043_human_fetal_cells_artificial_flavors.html).

"There is a potential that there are companies that are using aborted human babies in their research and development of basically enhancing flavor for artificial flavors," Sen. Shortey is quoted as saying by KRMG News Talk Radio. "What I am saying is that if it does happen then we are not going to allow it to manufacture here."

According to Children of God for Life (CGL), a pro-life watchdog group, Senomyx uses HEK 293 to produce its artificial flavor enhancing chemicals. HEK 293 is code for human embryonic kidney cells that are manipulated to produce taste receptors that express a specific protein known as the G protein. But CGL says the company could also use animal, insect, or other more acceptably-derived cells instead, and still procure the same results.

While aborted fetal cells are not necessarily in the final products made by PepsiCo, Kraft, or Nestle, such cells appear to needlessly play a part in the production of artificial flavor chemicals used by these companies. And since there are viable alternatives to this questionable practice, Sen. Shortey, CGL, and many others are calling for its end.

As we reported previously, the Campbell Soup company used to be a Senomyx partner until CGL contacted them about the fetal cell issue. Shortly thereafter, reports indicate that Campbell's officially cut ties with Senomyx, which in 2003 filed a patent for "recombinant (genetically modified) methods for expressing a functional sweet taste receptor."
