I wish I could put this idiot on youtube!
It's been about three hours and I still can't stop laughing....LOL!

I pull into the Kamloops BC Flying J truck stop for a coffee and some food. I park my truck neatly between the lines in the very closest parking spot to the big truck diesel pumps. As I'm walking to the building I look over my shoulder and see a semi with a 53 foot trailer try to make a hard right turn into the diesel pumps. The moron needed twice the distance to get straightened out between the pumps.

BANG! He hits the bright yellow bollard that protects the pump on his right knocking it over. He hit it about mid trailer. That's his FIRST vehicle involved in a property damage accident.

The moron then backs up about 20 feet coming within about 4 feet of backing into my trailer... I'm yelling WHOA!!!! at the top of my lungs.

At this point the fool should have just turned left, driven across the parking lot and gotten properly lined up for the pumps. He wasn't going to let that impossible turn deter him though! He tried the same turn about 2 feet wider. (he needed 20 feet)

As he's looking in his right mirror trying to see the ass end of his trailer, he smokes the bollard on the left side knocking it over and smashing in the front left corner of his truck. His second property damage accident, this time with a second vehicle.

I'm just fkn howling with shits and giggles at this point!

The dumb fucker just didn't know when to quit... He backs up a few feet and tries the same turn about 6 inches wider.

BOOM! He ran over the remainder of the bollard sticking out of the ground, jagged metal concrete core and all. It blew up his left front steering tire worth about $450.

Now I'm practically pissing myself with laughter at this point.

The guy still wasn't finished being an idiot. He then drives about 6 feet on his rim making sure it was beyond salvage. He was stuck there blocking off three different fill-up lanes.

I'm still giggling...lol!

Having spent way too much of my life repairing semi drivers fuckups, I disagree.

My guess is either young and inexperienced or just plain braindead.
( on a side note, ever see double clutch discs in a Mack with 1 million miles in like new condition ? I have... and I was truly impressed. The guy only used the clutch to start rolling and speed shifted the rest of the time. )

Other than a language barrier, should make no difference.

If it was pre 9/11 I would tend to agree... Since then things have changed immensely in the truck driving world here in the USA... Especially for fuel and explosive haulers.

If he wasn't licensed, he's fucked. I would imaging the truck stop called the cops for insurance purposes.

Based on appearances I'd say the dude was Indo/Paki.

I think race could play a part in some driving characteristics. I have followed other trucks for miles, judged their driving, then correctly judged their race, which I confirmed when I passed them.

How many aggressive Asian housewives have you seen speeding and zig-zagging in and out of traffic compared to White women of the same age? Asian women are for more respectful of the traffic laws and far more cautious too. It's just the way it is. Cultural perhaps?

On the other hand, the Indo/Paki truck drivers here have their own traits. If there's a little ice and snow on the ground they tend to be overly cautious to the point of dangerous. On compact snow I might slow down to 80km in a 110km zone. The Indo/Paki would slow down to about 30km and look terrified driving that fast. It's just the way it is. In all fairness, many of them have only been here a few winters. I likely have far more experience in winter driving in a car than they have driving anything period. I doubt many of them had cars/trucks back in India. Experience perhaps?

Then of course there's also the "Bell Curve".

True... While I am not and never have been a "truck driver" by profession, my own personal worst experience was caused by a 22 year old Irish kid.
Snowstorm, I was doing 45 in a 55 with my Ford F150 in an area where my usual speed was 65, because the road conditions were simply horrible.
They ( the cops accident report ) estimated his speed at 85 with his renault alliance when he lost control coming head on with me.

He was sliding broadside and I caught his right front tire between the frame rails, his engine went up and over me and landed in my lane behind where I came to a stop, and the car hooked on to my truck... I discovered a tire track from his right rear tire on my cab next to and behind my head when I was scrapping my truck.

Neither he nor my F150 survived ( I could not believe he actually broke/shattered my engine block ).
His passenger had internal injuries and a broken femur.
I walked away ( After kicking the door open ) with just several bruises ( and no, I don't wear seatbelts, If I had my collarbone would have surely fractured ).

Anyway, Does that mean that the Irish simply don't care, are stupid in general, etc... ?

Not in my opinion... The bell curve rules.
There are stupid people in ALL walks of life... Same with geniuses.

No, I'd say that's more typical of being 22 years of age. Did you drive as responsibly at that age of feeling imortal?

You and Death started discussing foreigners not I. I simply added to it stating that IMHO racial/ethnic tendencies seem to be played out in the driving world, and that it's so noticable to me that I can usually predict the race of the driver I am following.

To put it another way, if I was following somebody pissed drunk down the road, I would not suspect the drunk was a muslim woman wearing a hijab. OTOH, a white divorcee in her mid 40's? Sure.

Couldn't agree more with you mike, and your spot on it's age with the irish kid as I'd assume the factor.

I live in Ottawa a red plate (diplomat plates) central location and i go out of my way to avoid them as they tend to be mostly reckless and inexperienced, I road rage as I've been driving for 25 winters and well am not intimidated by the snow. Personally I have always been a fan of a 2 season license over graduated that most of the provinces have adopted. so if your not comfortable driving in the snow or in heavy traffic then you can take the bus.

I drive restored classics so I'm naturally more paranoid bout fools hitting me as i can't always find replacement parts with ease, and with insurance being no fault and the most expensive in Canada here in ONT Accidents stick with you for now 6 years.

I drive cross Canada a few times a year and my uncle was a trucker for past 20 + years and from traveling with him and watching 6 paki's pour out of one poor rig which is kept running 24/7 one night and listening to his explanation as to why... race amongst truckers is important. I'm not even sure with gaz so expensive why there is still so many trucks, those trailers should be on the train unless local

I used to live in D/T Ottawa, (McLaren at Elgin) and what I thought about them is their frikkin inconsideration to the native population. They park their damned dimplomat cars anywhere and everywhere including places like fire lanes which could easily add to casualties of life and limb.

Diplomatic immunity should NOT be applicable when some jackass from the Saudi embassy (or wherever) is blocking a fire truck! Let Salem Hakim Abdul el-Fuckwadi park his fucking limo elsewhere.

I'd love to see some pics in ConCen's car thread. Smile

They do team-drive a lot. I think a lot has to do with teaching each other how to drive rather than spending $5,000 to a professional school for a 6 week course like I took. N00bs teaching n00bs as I see it.

My resentment to them is not for skin color, it's for them driving down the freight rates. Trucking used to be a well paying profession with pay scales comparable to teachers, nurses and cops. Not anymore.

In a nutshell, time. I used to have a Wonder Bread run from Calgary to Vancouver, then return with a load back. I asked the shipper there why one type of bread is made here and another there. His answer was how altitude affects baking. Your bread would be stale if sent by train by the time it hit the stores.

People (greenies) like to denigrate a trucks MPG. When looked at in a ton/mile/gallon perspective, my rig is FAR more fuel efficient than an SUV.

For example, if a 9,000lb Hummer gets 12mpg, and I get 5 mpg hauling 100,000 lbs gross, who's getting the better fuel economy?

hummer now mike... come on who other then the smallest of dicks and neediest of wives ride around in those.

no like some crops require humans i can agree some products need to be shipped by truck, and I'm definitely not saying the trucking industry as a whole is any issue, i use truckers on my CB when I'm doing long trips in my surburban. but The mad rush of some cargo which is hauled by the trucks where they feel need for more than 1 driver, and take days should be by train.

BTW kinda cool you used to be a local hummm. as for DT i don't go down there unless by bus, it's still a good way to meet easy extra tailThumbup

Now as of june 1st though I'm in kempville my out of the city place till chaos and then to the village, When i'm back on my own computer i'll throw up some pics, mostly old English other then the truck (tow-er for my queens) Icon_biggrin

Honestly, at 16 I never expected to live to see 20...
I am now more than 2 1/2 times that.

Responsibly ? No... But I did know the limits of my vehicles and myself by 18. ( Really pissed off the drivers ed. instructor when he could not put me into a skid which he wanted me to recover from. )

As a side note I first drove solo ( on the roads ) at 14 years of age and by that time owned a 1966 Buick Skylark convertable which had been crashed by someone else which I, by myself, repaired well enough to be roadworthy.

Farm tractors from 6 years of age.

Being raised in the middle of nowhere did have it's advantages.
