RE: What is the best movie u have seen lately?
I watched "Tomorrow when the war began" I don't usually watch anything with war references, being a peace lover but this movie had a comfortable atmosphere. Sounds like a weird way to describe it but I think it was the setting in outback Australia and the storyline of heroism. Probably why I don't watch war movies because it gave war, glamour for young people, and it does feed a slight undercurrent of thought here In Australia that we could be invaded by our Asian neighbours. It's one of the best movies I've seen lately, because it seems like this is how resentment and propaganda in popular culture can start. It also reminded me of some recent news stories stirring the same pot.

I hope someone produces more innovative peace movies that actually gives ideas for peaceful solutions. Focusing on the positive to strengthen positives.

Also I loved Avatar, it's one of my classic favourites. Storyline, graphics, colours, characters great movie Smile)
Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage;
Minds innocent and quiet take
That for an hermitage;
If I have freedom in my love,
And in my soul am free;
Angels alone, that soar above,
Enjoy such liberty.

Has anyone here seen any of those movies? Both look interesting and insightful to a degree (although not completely trustworthy, if you know what I mean).

Black Swan was apparently influenced somewhat by an old horror movie called Suspiria, about a dancer who falls prey to a Satanic witches coven that controls society. But I get the impression that this influence was only in terms of design, not subject matter.

I saw both movies and i would very much recommend The Speech Of The King.
The Black swan was nothing extra!! after 70 minutes of watching it, i couldn't stand it any more and deleted the movie from my HD!

Revolver (2005) was a thoroughly awesome and introspective film. A mindfuck with multiple layers that explored the Man vs Self diametric.

I'll have to get around to finishing up and appending my update to the What Books, Movies, Music, Documentaries Best Represent Our Philosophy at ConCen? thread sometime soon to detail some great recent watches that I took in during my recovery downtime.

April I actually saw it to but really didn't like. Don't know what it was maybe the australian accents. Funny cause I really love the two other caving movies I have seen like The Cave and Descent.

In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

As a reputed atheist, the reverential nature of his film was surprising, but Pasolini himself said &If you know that I am an unbeliever, then you know me better than I do myself. I may be an unbeliever, but I am an unbeliever who has a nostalgia for a belief.&

Clap A brilliantly done movie, and very much about youth resistance, and showing young people that they can in fact fight for what is just and upright. Not your average mainstream flick, and certainly would be liked by many here.

Last week I saw, The Monk from Terry Jones' Medieval
Lives
. While not a movie, this episode helps reveal
why, though it doesn't mention it all, the early church
created the modern version of Satan in order to assert
control over Pagan Europe.

The amount of wealth and land amassed by these
religious orders is staggering.
