WikiLeaks archive torrents
I am currently distributing several WikiLeaks-related archive files through my little Web-site (I used to have more HTTP mirrors, but they're down temporarily) and a number of BitTorrent seedboxes:
  • wikileaks_archive_full [2] [3] [browse] -- 14.8 GB -- A large collection of older WikiLeaks archives, created by somebody else. The original torrent was called the "compleat" archive, based on wikileaks_archive.7z (an annoying little torrent containing 42,827 .torrent files inside it) officially released by WikiLeaks. See READMEFIRST.txt for more info.
  • cablegate-201101270215.7z [2] [3] [4] [magnet] [HTTP] -- 6.8 MB -- the CableGate update file for today, January 27, 2011, 2:15am. (You can check the bottom of this page to make sure it's the latest.) Expands to 208 MB (3,922 files in 136 folders). If you run a WikiLeaks "pull" / "scrape" mirror, then extract this update in the Web path. This is really the newest and most important content to proliferate, in case the bad guys suddenly deploy HTTP filtering on all major ISP's.

I wish I could upload those to the ConCen tracker as well, but this site has a silly policy against archived files. This makes sense to prevent pointless RAR'ing of multimedia files, but doesn't make any sense whatsoever in a case like this... (And uploading it uncompressed isn't just a 95% waste of space / bandwidth, but might even be technically problematic due to some BitTorrent client's built-in file handle limits!)

RE: WikiLeaks archive torrents
Jan 28th CableGate Update:

The 7z archives can be extracted with WinRAR or 7zip for Windows, or p7zip for any OS.

Also, news headline via Commiedot -- OpenLeaks Goes Live --

Quote:Ars Technica leaks the story of OpenLeaks launching. OpenLeaks is an alternative to WikiLeaks, with a few differences. 'OpenLeaks will not accept or publish documents on its own platform, but rather create many "digital drop-boxes" for its community members, each adapted to the specific needs of our members so that they can provide a safe and trusted leaking option for whistle-blowers.' Time will show if this will live next to WikiLeaks, or they will compete. For more information, check out the OpenLeaks website.

Bah, sissies! What we need is a leaks site that's even braver than WikiLeaks, that dumps everything in the open via P2P without any editorial filtering or delays! ConCenLeaks anyone? Big Grin

(Yes, I'm aware of the file size inconsistency in previous posts - my bad. Also some of my older version URL's weren't redirecting to the new version properly, so if you get a 404 error look for a newer link.)

CableGate Update for February 3rd, 2011, 1:58 AM (European time):

Download size: 8.24 MB (8,642,637 bytes).

There are some issues at the moment:
  • The Pirate Bay is currently down, and I usually upload the torrent there first so that other download sites (ex. BTJunkie, etc) would also use PB's trackers as well... (EDIT: OK, it's back up after ~3.5 hours of downtime. Links added above.)
  • It seems that somebody at WikiLeaks goofed (yet again), because there were three releases right next to each-other, at 12:10 AM, 12:50 AM, and 1:58 AM. I'm currently archiving / seeding all of them, and the above info and links are for the newer of the three.

There are some issues at the moment:
  • This is the fifth update in a single day, which is very unusual. I'm seeding all of them, but I'm only posting the 3rd and 5th (this one).
  • I made a typo in the torrent title on some BT sites, calling it for Feb 2nd, which should be Feb 3rd. My bad.

Leaks covered by mainstream press, and other related news stories:

This thread is fine as a soliloquy -- my main priority is to get the latest leaks proliferated and linked to from as many places as possible, so I'm pasting this into a number of different forums -- but I do welcome discussion, comments, etc.

I am mainly interested in whether you think I should be allowed to upload them to ConCen in spite of the "no archives" rule?

This is the third update for today already, the earlier ones being at 1:31 AM and 5:31 AM. Due to their more frequent release schedule I can't post all updates, but I will every 2-3 days.
