Man killed 2 year old during World Cup game
AP
Tuesday, 29 June 2010

A Texas man accused of fatally beating his 2-year-old stepdaughter when she wouldn't stop crying as he watched a World Cup game has been charged with capital murder.

McAllen Police Sgt. Joel Morales says 27-year-old Hector Castro was charged yesterday after his Saturday arrest. Castro is being held on $1 million bond at the Hidalgo County jail, where a booking clerk says he does not yet have an attorney.

Police Chief Victor Rodriguez says Castro told investigators the toddler wouldn't stop crying while he was trying to watch the US-Ghana match on Saturday.

Rodriguez says the child was severely beaten and suffered several broken ribs. Police say a screw or bolt was forced down her throat in an apparent attempt to make it look like she choked to death.

Not in bad taste, but I remember watching that match and falling asleep through it. Kind of scary to think at what point this would've happened.....

Although I've never heard anything this extreme, I stopped paying too much attention to 'soccer' after seeing the easy way it created division amongst people. I've seen friends fall out and even fights break out over peoples' opinions on these asswipes. No wonder they are paid so much, they really do keep the population distracted, which to a money system able to print as much money as it wants, is simply priceless.

Sport is a suitable substitute for the social functions of war, unifying people against other unified people. It replaces patriotism and nationalistic feelings that arise when a nation is at war.

Before I 'woke up', I watched a lot of sport and read a lot in newspapers only to find many errors, bias towards the players playing in the nation of the papers' origin who were given very false and flattering appraisals creating wrongful impressions of their abilities which the majority of the general public accepted until World Cup time and the inevitable failure only to not learn and be swayed by 'expert' opinion again creating more patriotism during the World Cup.

Once I started learning about conspiracies it was very easy for me to understand the media's role based on reading the sports pages. I had no idea it would've been the same throughout the paper.

Another 'sport' that helps to understand the real world is fake wrestling - a profession built upon fooling the public.
