I tweaked and added a few features to the forum's BBCode to embed youtube vids. Please let me know what you think...

You don't notice a difference?

Hint: It doesn't involve the Canadian agent troupe...

I'm not sure how it's different than before, but I just always use the same code ([youtube.][/youtube])... I looked under the "help" button in order to figure out the specifics, but didn't find what I was looking for...

Is it a larger screen size? or is that my imagination?

Video  RE: Are the new youtube embedded parameters better or worse?
I don't get it. When I reply to a post, I see no button, no clue, no hint on how to embed a youtube video. There are buttons for image, hyperlink, email, quote, code and even php (has anyone ever used this?) and a bazillion of smilies. Nothing about video embedding. Nothing about which other bb-tags can be used, not a clue, not even a text pointing to a clue.

Not complaining, just describing how this looks on my end. I've been a computer guy for 25 years. I should be good at this. Apparently I'm too stupid to figure it out. Do I have to memorize it? How is a computer noob supposed to figure that out?

Test:

nope, doesn't work.

Yes ^_^

Yes. Here's how to do an imbed.

Code:
[youtube]Cd-SLRyuRq0[/youtube]

to get this .. now with different params!

I only noticed a different framsize (me likey), anything else. And are there any other not so obvious tags that have no obvious buttons or documentation or shall we hunt for them like easter eggs?

Speaking of which, I noticed some random IRC translation came up last week when I posted.

I'll have to check out the mybb forums and see what else is possible on this platform.
There are no others, there is only us.

nope, doesn't work.

It's even easier than that - all you need to put between the tags is the ID string of the video. In this case it is "3M-ClS5uwNo".

RE: Are the new youtube embedded parameters better or worse?
There are 2 changes:
  1. window size is now optimized to match youtube's new "widescreen" format without losing compatibility with the regular 4:3 format.
  2. you can now click on the title which takes you to the youtube page for the video.
