The funny thing about oil is.....
I was out and about today as I am everyday, back and forth to work and I have been keeping my eye on gas prices. Here in Indiana they are lower than most places I think. But something else has caught my attention in the last week.

I would say that about 2 weeks ago gas was running on average about $2.66 a gallon. Then about a week ago it spiked up over $2.79 for a day or two. Then at the beginning of this past week it went back down to $2.67 at gallon. Hmmm.

We have a BP Oil Rig out in the Gulf of Mexico catch fire and sank into the ocean. They say they don't know what happened. But during Katrina that same oil rig didn't sustain any damage and the gas prices SOARED before the hurricane even hit the coast.

This past week the rig catches fire and MELTS into the ocean and all week long BP gas prices have DROPPED. What's wrong with this picture? Why did the gas prices spike BEFORE the oil rig collapsed? Why are they going down now?

Now, not that anyone here can answer these questions, I just thought I would throw that out there so that everyone can take note of their gas prices and ask the same question.

On a side note: The subject of the burka and head dress wearing of the muslim women in Europe and around the world. It seems that it being a religion issue just doesn't make sense. Not really. But what does seem to make perfect sense is the fact that if these countries have (and I believe they have) installed face recognition systems, that people would naturally be discouraged from wearing anything that would cover their faces. The easiest way to make it palpable to the masses? Tell them it's a religious issue.

Boy, the things they try and sneak by us when they think we aren't looking or paying attention.

The gas prices have been around $2.67 for the last week or so. Last night the gas was that price, when I went out this morning around 5am the gas was $2.85. I checked the price of oil and it was $81 and dropping. So why is gas going up and oil going down? Why such a drastic increase over night?

Sunday morning every single gas station that I have seen in Indianapolis has raised gas prices to ONE CONSISTENT PRICE - $2.95 a gallon. Not one gas station is any different. This is a first for me. I have yet to see anything like this. Usually gas stations are within a few pennies of each other but not this time. Everyone went up over night $.10 -.12 cents a gallon to get to $2.95.

I had expected this to have a knock-on effect in Australia, as most international disasters seem to. However our prices have been fluctuating within a normalish band all the while.

Gas prices in the last 2 days have been dropped $.10- $.20 cents a gallon. The rich side of town (or better side) is holding steady at $2.89 a gallon and the poor side of town (downtown, east side, etc) are all at $2.75 a gallon. The numbering system here is interesting. The oil is still leaking, turmoil still abounds and gas prices are going up and down and making no sense.

The cartel has been fixes gas prices to the penny for as far back as I can remember here in Canada on a citywide/regional basis. It always goes up substantially before every three day weekend or holiday.
