sorry - i meant military industrial complex. Blush
good acronym tho.
tbh, i want to do justice to your posts by way of reply but am unable to right now.
I tend to perceive the USA as, by far, the most economically and militarily dominant player.

RE: The Next Hundred Years Audiobook
I'm just a little way into the introduction, and it seems as though this guy is using the materials of the PNAC as a roadmap for his predictions. I have serious doubts about both Japan and Turkey rising to become global powers, and Poland? Well, I'm pretty sure that Russia may well have seen the puss rising in that little pimple, and did their best to pop it before it became to painful...

I don't see Russia being taken down so easily. I believe, through their seeming "magnanimity" towards Iran (securing partnership with ideologically united militant Shiite Muslims,) and ability to funnel resources over contiguous land directly into Europe (for control of comfort and economy of NATO hearts and minds) & China (with the worlds largest army,) along with alliances fabricated in the southwestern corner of the globe (strategic locations for assaults,) they aren't going to go down easily...

...but all this is kind of moot when you take into consideration the fact that this guy seems to see these governments as independent of global oligarchs, which I'm sure everyone reading this post knows to be a falsehood. It's not surprising due to the fact that he's been very privy to intelligence generated by government agencies, which are often filled with conflicting info and flat-out falsehoods, as well as being overwhelming in scale. They also, as an MO, operate in a highly hierarchical, compartmentalized manner, leaving him with holes in his intelligence that I'm sure he's not even aware exist.
As FT says:
Quote:If the people do not take the levers of power back you must look at the elite factions and see how they wish to disperse power throughout the globe. The nation state is secondary and is an outdated model in the globalist age since everything is so mobile and intertwined.

This single fact pretty much destroys the premise of the entire book for me... I'll keep listening though, as FT has put down the intro as a means of setting hooks into the reader... There's got to be a progression to lead to world government, and maybe it'll develop later...

Interesting reaction. Not entirely unexpected. It is not an exactly popular line here abouts to have doubts about America's impeding doom.

We know he is privy to quite a great deal being an exRAND insider.

Space weather nothwithstanding, I perceive his book as possibly as important as MacKinder's Heartland Theory.

I would suggest listening/reading to the whole piece rather than slamming it as naive after 1 chapter. jmo

RE: The Next Hundred Years Audiobook
I completely expect the US to continue to be a powerful state long into the future... that's not at all what I was trying to say... I don't expect the US to collapse as a global power, I just expect the government to go through a massive shift where the current ideals that most here believe we represent no longer exist. the US wont go away, just completely transform. I'm still listening to it, but it doesn't change the fact that it looks like the outline seems to come from the PNAC, and that it seems to be more propaganda than prediction, as it's ethnocentrism, at this point, seems to be coloring the projections...

I mean, it just said the US was "surprised that it won the cold war!"

I've got no qualms about the concept of geographic determinism as outlined in both here and in the Heartland Theory, (which I only have a passing grasp of and haven't read in its entirety.) It makes complete sense. The North American "high ground" is pretty much indisputable considering Its navies and the current division of the politics in South America... but that could change if anything ever sparks conflict over the Antarctic, and nations in southern hemisphere secures access to its resources, which, again, is totally dependent on the suspension of belief of a oligarchical ruling class, which I'm sure plans to base itself mostly out of North America.

I intend to continue listening to the book, and I appreciate your suggestion. I wouldn't have gone through this far through it without your recommendation, which I respect. I'm sure there's plenty of decent info worth absorbing, and I was simply expressing my initial, skeptical impression - not trying to talk people out of listening to/reading it.

RE: The Next Hundred Years Audiobook
This may change things .. much of the book was based on US and British Naval Supremacy.

China Naval Modernization: Implications for U.S. Navy Capabilities — Background and Issues for Congress

There was also a set of weapons that the Russians had allegedly been working on since the at least the 40s with their share of the Nazi Scientists (Russian mirror of Paperclip) of the Magnetic Wave Field variety which are purportedly in their 4th generation.

There are no others, there is only us.
