Pluto - Planet Or Not ?

Over the last five years I've studied astrology intensely. It's a fascinating and complex ancient "science". Unfortunately, most people think that when you mention astrology you mean "Horoscopes", the small generalised sun-sign based paragraphs found in most Daily Rags. Hororscopes were first used about 50 years ago. They are quite simply entertainment. They are what commercials are to filmaking.
Astrology is as old as knowledge itself, afterall, the ancients used the celestial bodies to keep Time for crop and other purposes, navigate over vast distances, create myths and stories, discuss and think about their and the Universe's origins and build sacred sites.
Now just because a few stuffed-shirts gather round a table and decide to call Pluto this or that is irrelevant. What if they had decided to leave it as it was would that have validated astrology for you?Do you need scientific opinion to make things real in your world?

No, not at all. Astrology is ALL bullshit!!! How, exactly, are distant stars or planets supposed to affect our lives?? The answer is - THEY CAN'T !!!! Also, there is no need to confuse navigation and astronomy with a pseudo-science like astrology.

It's quite simple how buddy, 2,700 astronomers sat round a table discussing just one. All week people have heard all about how the solar system is now different, because of the influence of Pluto on a bunch of scientists who have decalared that 1000's of text books now have to be rewritten. Wow! look at all that influence. You yourself posted a link to an article about a planet. I'm typing on a keyboard about one now. The fact that they have names and are observed proves that they have influence on ourlives and consciousness. Case-closed.

Your argument (calling it that makes it sound somewhat legitimate - so I'll try not to) is completely specious. If you are such an expert on Astrology tell me exactly HOW these planets and stars can influence our actions, future actions or personalities? Is it gravitational influence? Is it the light they emit or reflect? Can you even answer these simple questions?

I have no problem with the movement of the stars and planets being used for timekeeping or navigation - that seems perfectly reasonable. I don't even have a problem with the major world religions being based on sun/star worship - again it seems reasonable. :)

Inheritor - I don't form my opinion because some "hip hop cat" says so.

Pluto - Planet Or Not ?
By what criteria does something qualify a planet or not?

It's like this crap about whether Swindon is a city or town!

This film takes the piss brilliantly out of this obsession with these stupid bureaucratic labels. It's about some people who make a fuss about whether a local land feature is a hill or a mountain:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112966/
&I am merely offering a way out for your client. Anyone with a record of such incessant murder and robbery would be glad to cop an insanity plea. Do you insist that your client was in full possession of its reason at Wounded Knee, Hiroshima or Dresden?&
