The structure of capitalism is flawed. The motor that powers it cannot but vastly increase the disparity between the poor and the rich globally and within countries as well. Dr. Hermann Oberth who pioneered rocket design for the German Reich during World War II and later advanced rocket technology for the American manned space launches, cryptically stated: "We cannot take the credit for our record advancement in certain scientific fields alone; we have been helped."

When asked by whom, he replied: "The people of other worlds."

I've never run across any in the wild. Of course I think the eradication efforts probably started down here. We need a Johnny Potseed.

Thats an awfully high percentage when you consider the cultivators must make maximum use of any space they're growing in.

Time to grab some papers and go for a hike in da woods!

I've heard that the midwest and south mostly still have wild remnants from the hemp industry. Which was around until the early 30's and was restarted during WW2. This is also called "ditchweed" and it can't get you high from what I hear it's not that hard to find. This and the leftovers from outdoor planted crops make up the "feral" population of marijana in the country. I've heard this 98% figure before and I believe it. Think about it. Everyone I've ever known or heard of grows weed indoors. They fly around in helicopters and pull up ditchweed. They weigh the whole plant roots and all with a little soil even (same thing they do when you're busted) and say we irradicated --- tons of marijana.

Quote:The CAMP (Campaign Against Marijuana Planting) helicopter program eradicated a record one-quarter of a million plants in 1999, enough to make 219,000,000 cigarettes..

The value of the destroyed crop was some $1 billion — revenue lost to the local economy and diverted to foreign smugglers.

Californians consume about $3 - $6 billion of marijuana per year, an amount which would yield $250 — 500 million in sales taxes.

I never thought of this concept. Since irradication doesn't address the addict, he or she is still going to search for pot. What it actually does is put that local money in the hands of smugglers

Look at this crap from the head of the CAMP heli irradication in cali. she says.

Quote:These days a typical garden CAMP uncovers is controlled by Mexican nationals. Planted by drug lords, it's often found in remote areas of national parks or preserves. Mexican nationals are hired to live with the crop during the growing months, to protect it from predators and prying eyes.
At harvest time the crop is smuggled back to Mexico for sale and distribution. These are the operations, large and crime-driven, that CAMP targets. The legalization of marijuana for medical use, hasn't had much impact on Barna's job, because those operations are relatively small.

http://www.community-newspapers.com/archiv...cover-0123.html

I don't know what the hell she's thinking. Who is stupid enough to believe that? The mexicans are growning thier weed in cali. then smuggling it back to mexico for distribution. Come on? Does she or anyone else reading this have any concept of the price of weed in mexico compared to cali. They are clamoring to get it in the state not get it out. They're certainly not going to truck it all over and add that risk either. That's the biggest and most expensive weed market in the country why bring it anywhere?

OMFG!!! stop the presses!! someone fetch my hip-waders!! The BS is getting too deep...need air.....
read this from the same article.

Quote:The guide the state uses is that each marijuana plant produces a pound of product and the going price is $4,000 a pound.

1 pound per plant? I've seen some first hand evidence...heh This is so far out of wack it sounds like comedy. 2 ounces per plant and most people are jumping for joy.

smuggling IN to Mexico? You can't make this shit up... nobody would believe it. LOL! And 1 lbs per plant... you're right, that IS the whopper of the century. A plant that produced a pound of weed would be like... larger than a pickup truck standing on end.

Did you check out that PDF? Rhode Island, Tennesee, South Dakota, busted 0 indoor grow operations in 2005... hahahaahah. Massachusetts and Georgia got 1 each. Tennesee even though they didn't bust a single indoor grow operation in 2005 somehow erradicated 653 indoor plants? I guess those were feral? South Dakota actually had 0's across the whole board. In 2005 the DEA in S. Dakota did not kill 1 single marijuana plant and they didn't bust a single person for cultivation. I hope they are well funded.

Notice the curious inclusion of a weapons siezed stat. If you're caught growing any amount of marijuana in most states they immediatly take your guns away and you don't get them back.

Gather up 10,000 people and find a willing country to lease us a big parcel of land or an island and we'll start a hemp-based economy and self-sustaining colony... whee! Hmm, if the unlimited power generator works, you could do this anywhere... on the ocean, underground, at the poles, even in space...!

Ditchweed was all over Nebraska when I was there in college and, no, you can't get high from smoking it but you do get a nasty headache.

There still is a bunch of ditchweed in Michigan. Most people just call it forest hemp around here and treat it likes it's natural, which it is. I don't know why they would eradicate this stuff, not like it's hurting anything. Guess they need there paychecks.

I think you just nailed it... they must be actively seeking out this ditchweed to destroy because it looks good on a report, then they can say, "Hey look we DID something!".

If you guys read the pdf that started this thread they have a column for ditchweed and they tell you exactly how many plants they eradicated in each state. Indiana is the highest with over 212 million plants killed. Yes we pay them to eradicate useless weeds. I supose that if outdoor busts are slow they can go kill some ditchweed and pat each other on the back for a job well done.. heh. They may as well be at my house pulling out japanese knotweed that's the stuff that is actually a problem.

Kentucky is easily the biggest weed state in the country. The only reason california out produces is because it is so much bigger. Those green rural mountains in kentucky are the perfect spot to grow large amounts, and is where most of the east coast gets it's good product (anything in brick form comes from south of the border.). If you ever frequented the overgrow forums before they got shut down, there were tons of people on there from kentucky.
