Cheers

Possibly, cba trying it for my self though. But microwaved food is toxic, no doubts. Our microwave was thrown out around 2 years ago, wake up time.

Microwaved food is another story. Some enzymes in vegetables are modified or destroyed by the process. Maybe dig into that a bit deeper and report back your findings.

Another question. Does that little door on the microwave really shield you from microwave radiation? If not, how harmful is it and is a cumulative effect?

What about microwaving in various types of plastic/rubberized containers, does that imbue toxins into your meal?

Until then .. I prefer to stovetop it.

Actually we do keep the microwave oven stored in the garage as I have read it can be made into a weapon. Need to look into that for the day of reckoning. Wink

Ive tried this experiment myself and actually wanted it to work
Unfortunately there was no observable difference in plant growth (I tried beansprouts and cress as they are fast growing and any difference in growth rates should be obvious)

Feel free to do your own experiment

Thanks for that info Swordfish. I did expect that result. Maybe if the water was poured on immediately after microwaving it would be different though?

Yes it would be hot. To keep it scientific the other water would also have to be hot .. which would mean it would likely be sourced from a tap (connected to a water heater where the water would stagnate and perhaps have a different mineral concentration in oxidized metals, boiler linings) or heated on a stove-top in a kettle (which present similar taints) to the same temperature.

In my passive observation, I found microwaved water (and food) cools far more quickly than boiled water.

There is also the factor that hot water on plants roots can be potentially harmful. It needs to be usually 10 degrees F cooler than the ambient air temp. If it is not within the proper temp (and pH), then the plant cannot absorb the nutrients it needs. Obviously, boiling water can scald delicate roots.

Many factors to consider...
