China Passes Us As Worlds Biggest Polluter
Quote:Report: China Will Pass U.S. As Polluter

SHANGHAI, China (AP) - China will pass the United States as the world's biggest source of greenhouse gasses this year, an official with the International Energy Agency was quoted as saying.

China had been forecast to surpass the U.S. in 2010, but its sizzling economic growth has pushed the date forward, the IEA's chief economist, Fatih Birol, was quoted as saying in an interview appearing in Tuesday's Wall Street Journal newspaper.

"In the past couple of months, economic growth and related coal consumption has grown at such an unexpected rate," Birol was quoted as saying. China's rising emissions will effectively cancel out attempts by other countries to reduce their own, he said.

Those comments follow the weekend release of a Chinese government report detailing the costs of climate change but asserting that the country should focus on development before cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

Higher than average temperatures meant spreading deserts, worsening droughts, shrinking glaciers and increased spread of diseases, said the report, compiled by more than a dozen government bodies. It said emission limits were unfair and would constrain China's current energy and manufacturing industries.

China is a signatory to the Kyoto Protocol on reducing greenhouse gasses, but is exempt from its restrictions because it is a developing country.

The Paris-based IEA advises developed country on energy policy.

Exempt? Time to slap a pollution tax on imports from China. It's about 20 years overdue. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

One argument I like to bring up with non-consp types is "Why do we allow China to bankrupt this country?" I've yet to meet a single person who doesn't think that we obviously need higher tariffs on Chinese goods. It's plain as the nose on your face. If we can't compete because their prices are too low than they need a tariff. I'll even argue with Bush supporters about it. Strangely enough they all point to Clinton and blame the whole China thing on him. I always come back with "Look you've had your guy in there for 8 years and he's done jack-shit about it." "What's up with that?"

Uhm yeah right, but not with a hillary clinton. Your country is one of the leading forces in establishing a "new world order" or just lets call it a "one world order". Most of you guys will lose your jobs and there is absolutly nothing you could do against it in a "new world order". You know what was written on the big entry stone on the world trade center? " ONE WORLD FINANCIAL CENTER "....

You will either work for 50 cents a hour or you will lose your job and voting for hillary clinton will be just another big step into that direction. Lets face it - she will be your next president and even the stupid ppl in my own country (germany) are saying "I dont know hillary, but I think she will be a good president, cause she is a women and its about time that a women will become president..." and I bet that usa has also dumb enough people thinking the same...

Ok back to the topic. Well you dont need taxes, just dont buy products made in china anymore! You still have all the power needed, but you know when ppl are not willing to pay 10 more bucks for non-chinese tv then its their own damn fault.
