Cigarettes Really Bad?
hey guys,

so as a teen, i have been thinking a lot about cigarettes.

i smoke the occasional marijuana joint, and I know that it is not harmful to you when used in moderation. The government pours millions of dollars into the school system to tell us what an evil and horrible plant marijuana is when i now know by personal experience it isnt.

I also know through the grape vine that a lot of the drugs the government harps on us about include cocaine and ex arent as bad as they are made out. Sure they arent the best for you but the lies the government tells about them is ungodly.

So here is my question, I am currently going through a lot of stress and various other things i wont get into, and i was wondering if there are any smokers on the forum and if they have an opinion as to whether or not cigarettes are really as bad as they say. what brand is the best IYO?

thanks,

ancient cultures (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Olmec, Aztec, etc..) revered nicotine because they claimed it soothed the soul.

On a side note for anyone saying, but Egypt didn't have tobacco, it came only came by the Europeans after Columbus. WRONG. Medical examinations of mummies have shown in most mummies; nicotine and cocaine amongst other substances. Yes cocaine..and the only source is South America. I could go on but that's for another day.

I used to smoke.

I won't endorse you smoking, but if you do, do not go for any name brand that is laced with up to 500 additives to make you addicted faster. Fun ingredients like formaldehyde. Try pure organic tobacco that is slow cured, not flash dried and chemically cured.

Oh BTW, smoking does not really help with stress. Try belly breathing instead.

Cigarettes Really Bad?
Hi there,
I was reading your topic out of curiousity (i think i misspelled that word, english is not my native tongue) and would like to comment on the subject. I've been smoking from age 15 and this year i will become 43 and to this day i have no real medical problems because of it. But i am convinced that smoking regulary, say 20-30 cigarettes a day will effect your health sooner or later. My father is almost 70 and smoked all his life a dutch brand called Van Nelle dark tabacco and because he also has never had any health problems with it i also switched to this brand. It the kind of tabacco you will have to roll up with a paper yourself. It is a honest tabacco and with a very good taste. The best cigarette you can smoke is the virtual one because smoking means poisening yourself with nicotine and tar. Those substances do not belong in your bloodstream. For marijuana i can only say that it is very destructive for persons under the age of 20 if they smoke it a lot. Not only because it will take away their ambition to study or to become something in life but also because their brain is still developing and might cause some minor permanent brain damage which can effect the rest of their lives. I am sorry that i can not give you the source of this information because i read it somewhere sometime. There are probably made a lot of studies about the effect of smoking cigarettes and marijuana so if you keep searching on the internet you will most likely stumble on some conclusions. :eyebrow:

I smoke and have since I was 11 and I'm in my late 40s now. I hope my kids never smoke. Yes they are bad and very addictive. I've quit twice for a few weeks, once from a H.A.. If you do possibly at all, do natural if at all. I've done a few, ok several stupid things but smoking is the dumbest, yet I do enjoy it. It is addictive enough to continue after the H.A and N.H.L., neither I don't think smoking caused but also didn't help. Also I done pot in my younger years and as I tell my kids if there were anything good about it I'd still be doing it, same goes for drinking. Coke has it's medicinal purposes but like anything it's been abused. The government wants you to be a rebel and do coke and herione, after all it funds the CIA. I will say that anything that alters your mind or body is not good, it gives the government an upper hand on you. If you don't have you mental or physical health you are at everybody's mercy. Smoking is bad for you but not as bad as the food your eating if your buying food from the supermarket or eating out (includes top resturants and fast food). Given a choice between the 2 I'd say light up. There is yet other choices, either work (dosen't have to be purposeful work) or get some easy music and relax or take off on a pointless walk, no goals, no preplanning or get a motorcycle. I smoked a lot less when I had one.

Between my mom and her deceased husband they smoked 6-packs of Pall Mall's a day. He had severe emphysema. It eventually got the best of him. She now has it, but quit smoking 10-years ago.

My ex-wife's husband has lung cancer. Heck of a nice guy. He thought he had pneumonia, lasted about 1-month before he went to the doctor for a proper diagnosis. He's coughing up blood and can hardly walk to the bathroom. His lungs are saturated in clots. Forty three years old and leaving behind several kids and wife, extended family, friends. Sad shit, and it's been eating at me for about a week. He is going to die...soon unless a miracle from above is put upon him, and as a man in my early forties you reflect on your own family, friends, people around you who you will miss. You realize just how fragile life is and how bad choices can affect your lifespan. Sure some beat the odds, but for many it's gonna gitcha so the question is, is it worth it?

Life is about choices. I don't need to preach to you about cigarettes/marijuana nor provide rationalizations. My body is on loan to me so I treat it with respect, this is my belief.

If you wouldn't want someone you loved to do something you know is bad, then why the hell do you do it?

MMM

The ABSOLUTE best way to get rid of anxiety as well. If I thinking of the proper breathing...your belly should always rise. Chest breathing is nothing short of dangerous, it is shallow breathing and this lack of oygen will eventually cause you stress and anxiety, even panic disorder.

Proper breathing (from the belly) as a life practice will calm you when you need to be calmed, especially deep breathing techniques when you are feeling anxious/stressed.

I need to read the article though.

Thx
