Incredible... what happened to the First Amendment? Political speech? This is clear-cut. Nobody seems to notice... nobody seems to care...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 8, 2007

ARLINGTON, VA – Congressman Ron Paul's support has soared since the first Republican presidential debate. Conservative commentator John McLaughlin, host of “The McLaughlin Group," cited Ron Paul as having given "the best performance of the debate." In fact, the Paul campaign's apparent strength has many other pundits scrambling to explain it. Paul campaign officials offer the following examples of the candidate's rising success.

Since the debate on May 3, Ron Paul:

1. Handily won two post-debate polls posted by event sponsor MSNBC.

2. Placed a close third (18%) in a post-debate poll on the conservative Drudge Report.

3. Won an ABCNews.com online debate poll with 84%.

4. Won a C-SPAN online GOP candidate poll with 69%.

5. Became the third most-mentioned person in the blogosphere, beating out Paris Hilton, according to the reputable Technorati.com.

6. Produced a YouTube.com video that was ranked the 8th most popular overall video, and the most-viewed political video.

7. Was featured, by popular demand, on the front of Digg.com.

8. Generated so many bulletin posts on MySpace.com that the site owner News Corp. blocked all additional posts about Dr. Paul.

9. Became a "most searched" term on Google and Yahoo!.

10. Saw a quadrupling of daily visitors to RonPaul2008.com.

"These figures speak for themselves," said campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "Ron Paul has quickly become a strong contender for the GOP nomination because of his powerful message of freedom and limited government."

from a bulletin on Ron Paul's myspace group: "What is actually happening there is some part of his code, probably the poll links gather computer info which myspace interprets as phishing. He would have needed to poor over the code to find it. That has happened to me several times until I found the code that caused it and re-posted had no problems"

Could be censorship, could be just a glitch in the system.

You can't really claim First Amendment when it's a privately owned website.

But this is pretty extreme, even for Murdochspace. Should we really expect anything else? This just means were winning.

Edit: After rewatching that it is probable that it is just the way he coded it. I don't see how they would have automated censorship of Ron Paul. That would be hard to do.

Is everybody having trouble posting Ron Paul info, or just this dude?
The belief in 'coincidence' is the prevalent superstition of the Age of Science.

I don't think they are censoring Ron Paul. Did you see how much code the guy put in the bulletin? It could just be something in the code that sets off a false alarm on myspace.

I think it was something in the code cause I post Ron Paul bulletins every day & the only one that's ever triggered that "you've been phished" thing to pop up was that one.

Since there has been so much legitimate censorship of Ron Paul in the media & there are even myspace pages now dedicated to attacking him I can see where people assumed this, but it's better not to jump to conclusions. Kind of sucks that prison planet & a whole bunch of other places printed it, it discredits the arguments of real censorship that's going on.

Or it could be real. My point is just that we don't know that for sure.

I'm sure there's a loophole in the terms of service that you agree to when signing up.

Of course, how far that goes obviously depends on what their personal views are. Considering what myspace represents, we shouldn't be surprised. :err:

Censoring by keyword is easy. The same way they have algorithms not to allow malice HTML embedded content, Java applets, flash files without the appropriate variable flags, etc. In this case, the large amount of code was most likely the reason here... But I always have problems w/ my space bulletins. Who the heck knows.
