I'll just repost my earlier ron paul comment

Quote:Psychologically the best way to ensure Ron Paul garners the most support is by creating this whole polls debacle. Make someone think your up to no good and hiding something in your pocket will make them try to see whats in your pocket and assume its what they want. Watch some Derren Brown episodes to understand how someone can want one thing and be absolutely convinced they want something else within minutes. (its on youtube)

I suggest you all look at Mike Gravel before falling too in love with Ron Paul.

afterall a republican is a republican no matter which way you look at it.

&I've come to the conclusion, after having spent many years in politics, is that our presidential elections turn out to be more of a charade than anything else, and I think that is true today. It is a charade,& - Ron Paul, Sept 2008.

The crisis of modern democracy is a profound one. Free elections, a free press and an independent judiciary mean little when the free market has reduced them to commodities available on sale to the highest bidder.

The structure of capitalism is flawed. The motor that powers it cannot but vastly increase the disparity between the poor and the rich globally and within countries as well. Parecon is a brave argument for replacing that flawed machine and offers a much needed -- more equitable, democratic, participatory -- alternative economic vision.

look at Gravel on all the issues. He's a through and through socialist. There's more to a candidate that his views on the war (which of course MUST be in place first). Is Gravel going to take on central banking? Does he even understand it? Check out the old CSpan confrontations of Paul with Greenspan. Let's not shoot ourselves in the foot by thinking we're somehow too cool or with it for Paul or something. Voting for Gravel is a vote to keep that freaking cyclops pyramid on your money. Seems odd for a concen crowd to prefer the funny money.

Seems like a lot of folks (especially those who are new to the movement) are lefty-leaning. I find that understandable after the last 8 years, considering many of these people are so young they probably couldn't even vote when Bush was initially elected. Republicans definetly seem like the bad guys in all this. It took me a while to figure out and understand that republicans, at least at one time, were the party of limited government and maximum personal freedom. Ron Paul is one of those republicans, not neocon snakes like Bush and Co.

Definitely true. I myself was a lifelong democrat and liberal before waking up to the Rep/Dem scam. Unless a democrat realizes what is going on it's very very unlikely that democrat will vote Paul or anyone with the Republican moniker, and understandably.

Totally agree. I've been pleasantly surprised on a couple of occasions to see Paul mentioned on leftist websites (Crooks and Liar's did a story on him the same evening as the last GOP debate) - he is definitely the only republican candidate the lefties will even bother to consider, and rightfully so. Unfortunately, with the mainstream media blackout on Paul and when they do mention him, their outright distortions regarding his war position, lots of leftists will never even realize there's an anti-war candidate in the Republican party.

Yep, we gotta get that message out to people & also the fact that he's completely against the drug war.
