Cell Phones And Your Health

Cell Phones And Your Health

Most of us probably use a cell phone at least once a day, but have you ever stopped to wonder how your phone affects your health? As the number of cell phone users continues to rise, some scientists are examining the effects of the phones on our health and environment. Dr. Oz talks with Dr. George Carlo of the Science and Public Policy Institute about some health problems cell phones may cause.

While there are differing opinions about the harmful effects of cell phones, Dr. Carlo says he feels quite strongly that the information-carrying radio waves that cell phones use are causing serious health problems. He says that the waves from cell phones are different from the other waves we encounter in the electromagnetic spectrum because they don't exist anywhere in nature. These waves are interpreted as foreign invaders by our biological tissues, causing the cell membranes to work to protect the cells. When intercellular communication is interrupted, Dr. Carlo says, it can lead to many problems, from learning disabilities to Alzheimer's disease to tumor development.

Because there are literally billions of cell phone users today, Dr. Carlo says there is an unprecedented increase in potentially dangerous exposure to information-carrying radio waves. Five years ago, he says he was concerned with the phone itself for its concentration of radio waves, but today, especially in large cities, the background level of those waves is the same concentration that once showed up around the phones. So how can you protect yourself? Dr. Carlo offers the following advice:

* Use a headset or speakerphone whenever possible to keep the phone out of direct contact with your body.
* Check to see if your phone has any type of noise-field technology, and if so, use it.
* Keep your phone usage to a minimum, and turn your phone off when not in use.

Is talking on my cell phone a lot bad for my health?

No one knows for sure what the long-term effects of cell phones on brain cells will be. "But my personal belief, based on some data that shows that brain cells are affected by the cell phone—if you look at the brain cells on the right side of your brain versus the left side, when you're listening with the cell phone on the right side, they're a little different—we may actually find some problems down the road," Dr. Oz says.

What about cordless cell phone receivers? While these do reduce the amount of energy from the cell phone that reaches your head, their effects are also unknown. "They're probably beneficial, but they're receivers and so they might receive other energy from other places as well. We're not quite sure on those as yet," Dr. Oz says. "But I wouldn't throw my cell phone away. I have one, but I think for a lot of us we ought to think at least about how much we're on the cell phone."

Instead, Dr. Oz says the safest solution is using the speaker phone option. "The reason for that is the distance that you hold the phone away will cut the amount of energy [reaching your brain] by a quarter. So it's a lot if you can pull it farther from your head." Or, even better, he says to stick to the land line if you can.

Will my cell phone give me cancer?

"The jury is still out," says Linda M. Liau, MD, PhD, a UCLA neurosurgeon whose brain tumor patients often ask if cellular use is to blame. "None of the U.S. studies showed any significant correlation." But researchers from Sweden's Karolinska Institute reported in the November 2004 issue of Epidemiology that ten or more years of analog cell phone use raised the risk of developing acoustic neuroma, a benign nerve tumor. Because most of today's phones are digital, it's impossible to know whether they pose a similar risk. In January the head of Britain's National Radiological Protection Board, acting with an abundance of caution, recommended that children under 8 not use cell phones and that those between 9 and 14 use them only when it's essential. Given that cell phones have been the rage in this country only since the late 1990s, "we may see something harmful 20 years down the road," says Liau, who uses one herself but keeps the conversations short.
I don't see how when these people get on tv and talk like this that they don't just bust out laughing. I sure would, &phhheeh, sorry folks, haha, I can't read this anymore. Truth is, we're scamming the holy shit out of all of you. We're large, and in charge. Illuminati is in the hizzouse! East Sah-eeeed!& -Henry

Cell Phones And Your Health
Well being that I now corrently work in the cell phone business, in sales mostly, but my boss has been working on cell phones, buildt towers, knows like the entire history of cell phones. I can tell you this, those towers will make you steril, if you are near em to long, and depending on how Radio Frequency its putting out will determine how long untill you get the effects.

NOW, the cancer bit, some what I know from the experts, is its not the cells that get cancer but the stem cells, just like the sperm that get killed from the RF, stem cells might be effected in some way, in the same way, now if you dunno anything about stem cells, you better research em. Ever hear the saying "you are what you eat" . Whatever you consum is what your stem cells will be created with, the quility of organic matter and liquid is what goes into the cells structure before being completed. Now if its disturbed during the growth it might cause a defect, and the next stem cell in its place will carry on that defect more then likely, which is what can cause cancer.

Now about handsets, I do know some phones do emmit loads of heat, theres a site that rated them. Now from my personal research, handsets will probably not be the cause of brain tumors, that would be murcury and other junk in the water, and big one being aspartame. But cell phones will probably destroy some connections in the brain, and will cause lose of motoring skills and the other stuff that goes after that, like the ammount of time it takes to answer a questoin you might of been found of before you lose the pathways in the brain.

Thats just a summary right there, so check it out.
