So, who here watches television (at all) ? It was suggested by another concener not so long ago that a good way to fight the system is to use the “quit” philosophy.... and not buy into their “owning you” in any way..... the way i look at it, is if they send you a bill each month, they gotcha!

So.... come on now! who’s still doing it, and who’s quit! how long have you quite for, do you love it, and anything else you’d like to add!

I have not watched television in 7 years! AT ALL..... I LOVE IT! IT’S GREAT! i look forward to life w/o television, and i recommend it to any one who may have not kicked it yet, that would like to! lol Don’t get me wrong.... we have one..... but it’s for dvd’s only and has never received channels.....

Here's a great site on the subject.

I can't watch anymore since getting it. Reruns of Jackass are about all I can handle.

I agree. TV is one of the most(if not the Most) powerful propaganda mind control tools out there. It can be VERY subtle too. You think you are watching a show about space exploration when actually it is One World philosophy.
TV reinforces social norms and guides our culture down a predefined path. I know conspiracy researchers who won't dare get between their mates and an episode of "Sluts in the City' for fear of dismemberment. TV tells children what is cool and what isn't. It is THE vehicle for the sports opiates(BasketBaal BaseBaal etc). TV makes materialistic whores out of all whose attention it captures.
It is also the vector by which we are being made more and more androgynous. Just look at Will and Grace,
with that prancing predatory homosexual and that pill popping bitch. Women I know LOVE that vamp, and model themselves after her. So yes, If you are serious about being free, throw that thing out
or use it as a second monitor. And watch what an otherwise loving and peaceful mate will become when you suggest they stop watching. A lot of wives who would otherwise 'put up with' their husbands 'crazy' (but heretofore harmless) conspiracy theories will show you how they REALLY FEEL when you suggest it.
Protect your testicles and dust off the prenup.
And yes, if you pay a cable tv bill each month you are supporting
murderers, liars, pedophiles, zionists, the Jesuits and (insert evil group here).
I guess the same could be said of the Internet, but at least the internet is interactive and has places like Concen.
Great link Henry/thx

Try this experiment for a week when watching TV:

Stand up while you are viewing the tube/monitor ...

... you may find that it effectively breaks the "trance".

And once the trance is broken, you may find yourself doing other (more productive !) activities.

FOUR ARGUMENTS FOR THE ELIMINATION OF TELEVISION by Jerry Mander is a book that will possibly convince you to limit, if not eliminate, your TV viewing.

Thirty years old, yet his arguments are even more relevant today.

Mander has also written books and essays arguing against globalization.

I quit watching TV back in 98. Wow, what a HUGE difference it made for me! When I went back to watching TV, I couldn't believe what a joke it was. Now I only watch TV a couple hours per week and try to spend my time doing more healthy things like riding my bike, working in the veggie garden, kayaking/canoeing, fishing, hiking, playing; basically doing many of those other things peeps back in the OLD days used to do. Now I'm just trying to find a way to get the benefits of using a computer for work, information, communication without using one. Good luck on that one, eh? ;P

P.S. I know someone who has a pedal power generator and if his kids want to watch TV, they have to generate the power needed to watch it. Great idea, I think.

I haven't watched television since Dan Rather announced a perpetual motion machine (aka; free energy) on CBS national news as though it were real - and he thought it was!!! I don't recall when that happened, maybe 1989(?), but it soured me so much on TV that I haven't watched anything since then except a rare movie once in a great while that I've usually selected myself rather than have it shoved at me by the TV. I would rather watch paint dry than to watch regular network television.

I haven't paid for satellite TV since '99.

I quit watching in '05 completely and don't own a TV anymore. I watch hockey and MMA (both downloaded) and that's it for TV. I have tried to watch some things just as an experiment and I can't. I see all of the propaganda VERY clearly and wind up yelling at the TV arguing points, getting pissed off and then being totally disgusted by all the folks that live and die by it.

Maybe there was a day when TV was a source of real info and education but I think even Sesame Street is corrupted these days.
My life is better without it for, damn sure.
