Obviously a commercial flight, nothing to see here, move along...

What criteria do you use to appraise pictures such as this?

I was being sarcastic, pretending I was infected with jr disease.
When you are looking at a photo all you have is visual criteria. If the picture hasn't been photoshopped I would say you are looking at a chemtrail. Commercial planes at that altitude don't do circles as it wastes too much fuel.

Never thought of it that way, very true unless theres an airport nearby and they are slowing down by turning. Hey Tri, are there any airports by you?

I live by the LAX airport and theres a smaller airport a few cities down in Long Beach but I havent seen many chemtrails lately. I used to see them mark the sky into a checkerboard a couple months back.

And what altitude IS that?

I considered that MasterMG. Can't tell the altitude from the photo. Here in Edmonton the "skyspiders" overfly the airport regularly. They don't follow flight rules, they do hooks over the airport. They are arrogant in that they figure we are too stupid to notice that their actions are out of place. Until recently I was taking flights 4 or more times per month and my observations of chemtrails placed them between 25,000 to 38,000 feet in altitude. At no time have I observed them to be lower than 25,000 feet. Doesn't mean that they don't spray at a lower altitude but I don't have any personal observations to indicate that they do.

Thanks for my new name.

Not by eye, for certain.

They DO follow flight rules - or an interceptor will intercept them.

Quote:They are arrogant in that they figure we are too stupid to notice that their actions are out of place.
Your stupidity and arrogance (I suppose one naturally follows the other) has made you unaware of the facts that with 57,000 US overflights each day aircraft are handed from one ATC center to the next WITHOUT any gaps in between, and aircraft are guided in lanes ABOVE Visual Flight Rules space. Fast-moving aircraft in this latter space run the deadly risk of colliding with tiny light aircraft which are NOT fitted with flight transponders.

Yes. You must have used a rangefinder and sextant.

That's no surprise at all, for they don't spray at all.

People with REAL powers of observation have already observed that persistent trails are the results you get when modern turbofan aircraft fly through stratospheric regions of high humidity, results borne out by this study, for instance:

Depending on the speed of the stratosphere (average speed 55mph) the airport could be up to 100 miles away, and you might still see the trail of an aircraft turning into its holding pattern (sometimes called the "racetrack" or "paperclip") for landing. As the aircraft continues descending it leaves the cold stratosphere and conditions no longer support trail-making.

It would be unusual to see a full 360 or 540 degrees' turn. Some air-sampling aircraft might be seen doing this, but there aren't very many of them, whereas there are 57,000 daily flights over the US, and about 7,000 over the UK.
