Talk Doesn’t Pay, So Psychiatry Turns Instead to Drug Therapy

RE: Talk Doesn’t Pay, So Psychiatry Turns Instead to Drug Therapy
I will give some insight on something that happened to me. About three years ago I began to have ringing in my ears and losing feeling down the right side of my arm and body.... I went to the emergency room like four times thinking I was having a heart attack (I am only 35 but in the past I did use alot of drugs)

Anyhow- Long story short- I was given every expensive test they could give me (the cost was astronomical) but they neglected to give me a $30 blood test. Eventually they refered me to their outpatient psychiatry dept saying it could be "depression".

At this point I (and my wife) were at our wits end. I KNEW something was wrong but their thousands of dollars of testing showed nothing- Maybe it was "depression" even though I was only depressed that nobody could tell me what was wrong and am otherwise extremely happy and an outgoing social person.

I was immediately prescribed antidepressants... A month later I am in the Hospital again with the same symptoms. They say that perhaps my prescription needs to be stronger.

At this point I contacted a friend who I went to school with who is a Doctor in a different state and I drove almost 300 miles to see him. He agreed that it "might" be depression BUT said he wanted to run some blood tests.

A $30 blood test (no kidding) revealed I have a very simple B-12 deficiency. My body cannot naturally absorb B-12 from food or pills so I need to take injections (cost $15 for a years worth) and within DAYS I was feeling great.
For the last Year I have taken my B-12 shots and have had no problems. I even contacted a lawyer hoping to sue since I paid out the ass for Thousand dollar tests while EVERYONE neglected to give me a simple blood test- Was told I cannot sue- Figures.

I went through hell over this and honestly it was all about money.
