The Uppermost Limit
It is possible to learn from suffering, but from what I have seen, many people suffer without learning any lessons for it.

That concept only works on an individual level, as in your own cognition of how you want to feel about your circumstances and choices in life and what they have brought you. However in reality, it does not require suffering to learn that lesson, it just seems to be the most common way to learn it on this planet. (go figure)

Using that to justify enforcing and inflicting unescassary suffering on people to "teach them a lesson" is the behavior of an ego-maniac. The "elites" use it as a pavlovian method of control and try to justify it with these types of ideologies.
