Mobiles 'cooking the brain'; brain tumors become children's number one killer illness; and leaked industry memo admits 'wargaming' the science. Seek truth from facts with former senior White House adviser Devra Davis, Storyleak editor Anthony Gucciardi, 'cell phone survivor' Bret Bocook, Microwave News editor Louis Slesin, top radiation biologist Dariusz Leszczynski, and Ellie Marks, whose husband Alan's suing the industry for his brain tumor.

RE: Cell Phones
Devra Davis, author of Disconnect, stops by UW Radio to discuss the dangers of cell phone use. Despite its popularity, the use of cell phones has been shown to damage DNA, break down the brain's defenses, and reduce sperm count while increasing memory loss, the risk of Alzheimer's disease, and even cancer. Hosted by Sean Croxton of Underground Wellness.

RE: Cell Phones
In my former life, I worked for a Canadian environmental certification program and I remember a Russian engineer coming in for a meeting with our team. They wanted us to create a standard for safe cell phones and then certify his technology.

He started by showing us all the research done in Russia on the dangers of cell phones. Then proceeded by establishing how the Canadian government had failed to acknowledge the science behind this information and change regulations for cell phone safety.

He showed us stacks and stacks of data. And how to protect people from the dangers by add some things to the design of phones.

Anyway to make a long story short, that's when I understood that cell phones are dangerous, science had demonstrated that, governments know, but don't care.

Well. I don't know your age, but my friend who is 46 has never had a cell phone. Same with me. But that's maybe because we're old fogies.

I'm 31. FastTadpole is the only other person I know of besides my boyfriend who hasn't had a cell phone in a long time. Never owning one.... I'd say is quite admirably remarkable.

Stunning stat: 91% of U.S. adults own cell phones
Also amazing: 56 percent own smart phones. That's according to Pew Research Center, which has been monitoring cell phone ownership for nearly a decade. Pew says the cell phone is the most quickly adopted consumer technology in the history of the world, though there are some groups being left out, including people 65 and older, those who didn't attend college, and those living in households earning less than $30,000. Many of the respondents say they constantly check their phones, keep them by their bedside, and think their phones make life better because they connect with pals more often.
