officially not available in the archives of the broadcasting tv-station (ARD, 1st german mainstream tv), although the tv-magazine itself still exists (Report, since 1960!).

it deals with an extremely interesting matter which undermines the entire GMO research and techniques.

this clip was copied from an old VHS-copy, so it is what it is...

for those not familiar with the german language:

2 fellows from one of the biggest pharma corporation (today: Novartis) found a way to modify the growing of plants by simply exposing normal maize seeds to an electrical charge for some hours and then planting them normally, without adding anything else.

result: instead of one maize ear, there are 4 or five growing!

same thing with fish.

a trout (salmon family) gets about 30% bigger and develops a kind of a hook near the mouth.

scientists said, the electrification of the seeds somehow 'awakened' the code to make the plant/fish grow up like it used to do a long time ago.

also, their resistance against all kinds of diseases was much better.

one of the scientists has retired, the other works somewhere else.

asked by the TV-magazine about the patent filed, the corporation answers (in writing) that they have halted the experiments as they are in conflict with their internal policy.

(so, for the USA alone, the 332 million metric tons of maize produced every year could easily become 4-5 times as much without much investments - so much about the alleged problems to feed the world).
