The Soviet Story (2008)

NOTE AND CORRECTIONS I'VE MADE:

This is a better version, in my opinion, of a documentary that has already been shared here - http://tracker.concen.org/torrents-details.php?id=18373 - that has hardcoded Latvian subtitles (which are not only unnecessary and not very pleasant during the English narration, but also don't help much when people are speaking Russian or Ukrainian), this one being comprised of the original film with no subtitles whatsoever and a separate accompanying file with subtitles in English.
I got the original subtitles file here - http://www.allsubs.org/subs-download/soviet+story%2C+the/1132561/ - and made some minor corrections. Mainly (as you can check in the preview of the subtitles file, available in the link I've just mentioned):
- putting the | symbol to separate the description of the interviewed from what s/he is saying (NIKOLAY MELNIK survivor of the 1932/33 Famine Potatoes, beets, cabbages. > NIKOLAY MELNIK, survivor of the 1932/33 Famine | Potatoes, beets, cabbages.)
- and deleting spaces that were not supposed to be there (NORMAN D AVIES historian > NORMAN DAVIES, Historian)

DESCRIPTION OF THE DOCUMENTARY:

Very good documentary, exposing the less known aspects of Communism and the Soviet Union, like:
- the similarity between Communism and Nazism, and the Marxist roots of Nazism and Eugenics
- the collaboration between Russia and Germany during the first years of World War II
- the Ukrainian genocide
- the concentration camps operated by the Soviet Union, similar to the Nazi ones, where medical experiments were also held
