Shadia Drury, Anne Norton - Leo Strauss and Neoconservatism

In the western world most people are under the impression that the traditional conservative political parties support capitalism, a free market and unrestricted freedom for all human beings. This is not true, and has probably never been true to any significant degree. With a philosophy (ghost?) developed by Leo Strauss conservatism took a big step towards openly marrying the ideals of collectivism. Not only in America but around the world.

Like collectivists, conservatives prefer their kind of people over anyone else; business owners who like to conform to authority, individuals who feel good in groups and privileged people who prefer to live off other people's efforts rather than their own.

Conservative business owners with the wrong attitudes are treated just as bad as collectivists.
