1. Ancient Book of Formulas 1988

Apparently, the deClaremont books are all out of print;these come from back around the 20's and, so I've heard from various sources, the name was not actual but was used by a publisher and the rights were eventually bought out and I heard there were some legal problems. I was a teenager and thought, as many probably did, that this was actually the name of some french adept. Anyway, they were interesting reading,with some useful info, (The Seven Steps to Power, The Seven Keys to Power,were some of the others), rather curious and somewhat mysterious as to exact origin; these were sold Very cheaply along the vein of the old 'Dream Books'. They were still marketed in the 1970's and maybe the early 80's in mostly a pamplet form and I bought all of them, mostly entertaining for the curiousity's sake and when I was young, their claim to amazing mystical power and rare lore was hard to resist. And I am a book lover anyway.
This volume has alot of info, but a few of them had references to a defunct herbal company for the numbered formulas and you couldn't be sure what went with what,very convoluted! so the usefulness became quite dubious, but they are interesting for the time period they are from, and are fairly scarce too

Their limitations vanish, and they are free to grow in stature.

The Secret Lore, which we here present specimens of, is handed down in a series of documents called Upanishads, that is 'sittings down-near/ because their contents were transmitted as a secret to a student who sat close to his teacher. The teaching was imparted by divines ('men of the spirit/ as they were called) to those of their own caste who had undergone a long course of discipline, and whom the teacher thought fit to receive it. It was given long ago, about the middle of the first millenium before Christ, that is about the time of Jeremiah the prophet in Judah, and was the Climax of a course of development of religious thought that had begun a thousand years previously.

It is to be remembered that all dates, however, in this story are conjectures within wide limits. The basis of the conjectures is linguistic evidence we shall presently describe, besides internal evidence in pre-Upanishad an'd Vpanishad
documents themselves. A prime fact to keep fixed in mind is that the Upanishads were concluded before the classic Buddhist doctrines were formed.

Israel Regardie wrote The Tree of Life, a book many consider his magnum opus, in 1932. It has continued to sell for decades. And no wonder. Up until the time this book was published, very little information about true high magic was available to the public.

In this book, Regardie reveals the secrets of real magic. He begins with an explanation of what magic is and, just as importantly, what magic is not. He explains that it is a spiritual study and practice which, along with forms of yoga, forms the two branches of the tree that is mysticism. Magic is not being a medium or a psychic. Then he explains the tools of the magician, what they mean, and how to use them. He explains the techniques of evocation and invocation, skrying, and astral travel. He shows how the Qabalah unites everything. He even gives a description of the secrets of sexual magick. All of this is in a clear, lucid writing style. This book is simply a must for anyone who is, or aspires to be, a real magician.

Although Chic and Sandra Tabatha Cicero were friends of Regardie and are Senior Adepts of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, what changes could they have made to this classic book? Well, they did change the spelling from British style to American. And they did change his transliterations of Hebrew into the more popular style he used in his later books. But nothing vital was changed or removed. Everything else they added was complementary to the text that was there. And what incredible additions they are! Extensive annotations throughout every chapter; over 100 illustrations; more descriptive contents pages; a glossary, a bibliography and an index. They've even added a biographical note on Regardie and the importance of this book to him and to the occult world.

10. The True and Invisible Rosicrucian Order - Paul Foster Case

This is a thorough presentatio of the Rosicrucian system of Initiation by Dr. Paul Foster Case. He explains that Rosicrucianism is based upon earthly organizations, but on personal unflodment, and clearly describes the distinctive marks of a Rosicrucian. The treatise is divided into two main parts by Dr. Case. The first is a careful examination and interpretation of the principle Rosicrucian maneifestos, the Fama Fraternitatis and the Confessio Fraternitatis. The second part is an explanation of the Rosicrucian Grade system, as applied to the diagram of the Tree of Life and Tarot attributions. By participating in the outlined procedures, aspirants are put on the right track of preparing themselves for union with the Higher Self, which may or may not include group work with an outer order or fraternity. The first editions of 1927, 1928 and 1933 were of limited publication. THe fourth and most complete expansion of the text by Paul Case ws finished in 1937, revised by him in 1953 just before his death , and published in hardcover by Weiser in 1985. It represents the full maturity of his thought on this subject.
