https://concen.org/torrents/essential

That is my favourite link on this site. It's the most important ConCen link you can send anybody who wants to wake up. It's a combination of the resources available and the experience of the people who know. Please make that link better by finding and flagging what woke you up the most.

Search not working

It's working for me (except the NFO/TXT part, which is still pending).

What are you searching for, and what link are you using?

Anonymous posting doesn't work on the first attempt. You have to post a torrent under your user name, then go back and edit the post and click the Post Anonymously checkbox. Also, something funny is going on with the scrapes and trackers.

As for the tracker scrapes, what are you seeing that I'm missing?

With several torrents with a large number of extra trackers included, the system just throws up its hands in despair and only shows the http://concen tracker even after performing multiple fresh scrapings.

Also, the true number of seeds is wrong, the tracker prefers zero to one there, and the number of peers doesn't quite jive with the actual numbers, it looks like.

I like the new features, thank you for taking the time.

Could you link to an example?

Previously the code rewrote the announce list to remove known bad trackers. Now it shows exactly what is in the uploaded torrent and goes from there. The database keeps a record of trackers which are gone, and will not scrape them. It also knows if a tracker has moved to another URL, and will scrape that one instead.

I'll need to see an example.

You're welcome.

With your and others' help we'll shake out the bugs. I'm the only coder right now, and I can only do so much. The more eyeballs testing (and reporting on) the new code, the faster we'll get to where we want to be...

OK, I found an example that I can test on which has 18 trackers, yet the site only shows 3! I told you I suck.

Anyway, it's another case of being dumber than I think I am (saving a few lines by being clever).

When it comes to programming, I suck!!

What I was doing was making sure an admin could return an anonymous torrent to the uploader. I got a bit ahead of myself and broke the code. Now it works as advertised.

Uploaders will be able to view their anonymous torrents, and reclaim them if they want.

Hey, we're doing great here, don't put yourself down. We have anonymous uploading back, yea! I think the deal has always been and will always be that seeder/peer stats aren't exactly right, we just do our best and hope it's close enough. Great work, nibs!

I've had to remove cybersage.net from the trackers stats because it's never accurate - the crap TorrentTrader software they use (which we used too, with heavy modification) is so brain dead it doesn't update its own stats properly. It could say there were 100 seeds when in reality there's usually 0.

That should make a huge dent in what's reported vs. reality. Keep in mind also of course that with DHT there could be more seeds than ConCen reports - and there's no way it's trackable.

The torrent that was causing the trouble had 18 trackers, 2 of which were duplicates. Now all duplicates are automatically purged from the announce list prior to insertion to the database.

Could you set up something that shows the number of comments on a torrent? By torrent name or next to the number completed...When searching for torrents

wow! Thanks! This will really help. A lot times I would click on a torrent just to see if anyone added a comment. With this new feature, I think more people might comment on stuff.

thanks

Could you put the torrent link in the feed as an enclosure, it'll make it easier for my torrent client to automatically download..

What do you mean by an enclosure?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_enclosure, the .torrent file would be in that field, that way rss readers and podcatchers like the one at hillbillysoftware.com can pick it up automatically :)

But it looks doable, if I have the time.

Thanks :)

I have never downloaded torrents before. How do you open them?

The rest is easy. You may need to read a short tutorial first.
