Lauryn Hill responds to tax evasion charges

Quote:US singer Lauryn Hill has said she failed to file income tax returns for three years after going "underground".

In a statement on her blog, Hill, 37, said she withdrew from public life for the "safety, health and freedom" of herself and her family.

The former Fugees star added "there were no exotic trips, no fleet of cars, just an all out war for safety, integrity, wholeness and health".

She is due in court on 29 June after being charged last week.

Hill explained on her Tumblr site: "I did this in order to build a community of people, like-minded in their desire for freedom and the right to pursue their goals and lives without being manipulated and controlled by a media protected military industrial complex with a completely different agenda."

Prosecutors say she earned more than $1.6m (£1.03m) during 2005 - 2007, mainly from royalties from music and films.
'Abandoned greed'

The singer admitted she stopped paying taxes during this period but says her intention "has always been to get this situation rectified".

She continued that she did not "deliberately abandon any responsibilities" but added, "obviously, the danger I faced was not accepted as reasonable grounds for deferring my tax payments."

According to court papers, Hill owns and operates four corporations - Creations Music, Boogie Tours, LH Productions 2001 and Studio 22.

The Fugees' album The Score achieved worldwide success in 1996. Two years later, Hill released her debut solo album - The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill - to wide critical acclaim.

The singer also appeared alongside Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.

Hill ended her statement by addressing fans. "To those supporters who were told that I abandoned them, that is untrue," she wrote.

"I abandoned greed, corruption, and compromise, never you, and never the artistic gifts and abilities that sustained me."

At an Aerosmith concert in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1978 I watched Steven Tyler become enraged on stage a try to hit Joe Perry with a microphone stand before storming off stage and ending the show prematurely. They hated each other. Aerosmith broke up shortly thereafter.

Ever since then I have been interested in the psychology of these highly paid specialists and the economics of their profession. It is a queer industry.

For a year I have been fascinated by this band South African band Die Antwoord. For fifteen years this guy tried various hip-hip projects and failed. In 2009 he adopted occult symbology, and suddenly exploded with success. I'm waiting for his crash, but he may be old enough to handle the industry.

I don't care for this style of music, but studying his transformation from struggling failed musician to Interscope Records' hot new acquisition has been fascinating.

I really did miss her music in the Hop hop scene, she was one of the best, and she sang beautifully too! But I can totally respect and understand her feelings regarding "getting out" and its for the right reasons.

They kidnap any real talent and go MK on it until there is nothing but symbolism and robot sounds. It is rather sad. On a side note, the wood from the Holly tree was the wood used in the traditional wands of witches. Witches cast spells. Entertainment translates roughly to mind control. Put it all together, Hollywood is casting a spell called "entertainment". That should not surprise anyone, as every movie that Hollywood spits out is nothing but NWO propaganda loaded with all the fun one-eyes and pyramids and every other silly little symbol they cherish so much.

I do too but what would that really matter anyway, besides validating our own concerns...
He was already labeled crazy as it was- he starts mentioning things specifically and he'll be ridiculed even more so.

Even if he is telling the whole truth, the sheep will sleep right through what he's saying anyway. Im sure he knows that enough to be a little vague but the main point is there.

And its not always easy to explain from their perspective either. People they know, they start to lose trust in. They dont know who is pressuring who to say what or when. I believe a lot of these celebrity types are kept in their own type of bubble, so as to be able to discredit them later on should they decide to stray from their set purpose.

I see what you mean. I think I sometimes I over-estimate what celebrities "know". The vast majority of them are just "product", really no smarter than you or I. They just happened to be born with a certain comedic wit or certain photogenic body appearance that proves to be marketable.

I think the celebrities who "know" are a small minority. Then they either get scared and fade out of the industry, or decide that the price is worth the rewards and double-down.

I think George Clooney and Bono are examples of celebrities who are clueless, but realize they can earn great wealth by spouting whatever political propaganda their handlers specify.

I think the girl and guy in the band Die Antwoord above "know" and decided it was worth it.

I would concur that most do not know. Most, it seems, if not all, are MKed in one form or another, especially in the music industry. Those that are aware of the truth, whatever it may turn out to be, most definitely have to be a minority. They also end up dead? Michael Jackson, I have read it in numerous places, was getting fed up with the industry, and there were videos of him giving a speech about them and how evil they are... Then he did that last song "They Don't Really Care About Us", and croaked not too long after... Who knows?
