Making a thread for related suggestions seemed to make sense to me, especially as this is one area that will change and improve in the not to distant future.
What about a "Ressed Request Fulfilled" button/option? It just came to my mind after someone fulfilled my reseed request, but after another already had. It would be great if a user that made a request could at any time cancel the said request, and once it had been fulfilled, let the system know so all the related PM's still waiting to be read could be deleted. This is the interrelated structure of reality." -- Martin Luther King Jr. "He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him." -- Proverbs 18:13 "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself." -- Leo Tolstoy "To love is to be vulnerable" -- C.S Lewis The Kingdom of God is within you! -- Luke 17:20-21 https://duckduckgo.com/ |

RE: Reseed Request System Suggestions
Is it really necessary? If there is a seed than the request is filled. I always follow-up with a tracker side PM to the requester too.
Accidental clicks or vandal clicking could also be problematic. Besides I think re-seed requests are capped once one has been sent. It's a good system as is. Torrent requests are another matter but easily handled by a post with a link to the torrent. Onus falls on the ConCen member. There are no others, there is only us. http://FastTadpole.com/ |

RE: Reseed Request System Suggestions
The torrent link is available in the PM. I just open it to see if anyone's seeding and, if not, do a quick search on my system for it and reintegrate accordingly. At the same time, it's another option for users to explore. Interesting idea.

RE: Reseed Request System Suggestions
Small flaw with that system is that often requests are ignored because although the torrent shows 2-3 seeders, they aren't actually seeding. Or actually, I am sure it could be done automatically, so that, if a reseed request user, after requesting the seed, went on to the "completed" list the request became fulfilled.
Maybe I am just over-thinking it...or it's just me being a perfectionist. "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked." -- 1 John 2:6

Quote:Small flaw with that system is that often requests are ignored because although the torrent shows 2-3 seeders, they aren't actually seeding. It's not the system. That may be a user issue because of the Connectable status of your client computer. You have to make a firewall exception on the port to create a pinhole to allow certain connections to be established. You could also try enabling DHT and if the seeder is connected to it than you can connect to their share. They may also be blocked due to a banned IP blacklist you might have installed on your client. My IP was banned on one of those lists bluetack at one point so check that may be an issue in connecting as well. ConCen's IP addy itself is on some mail port range spam list. I rarely enable my IP Blacklists anymore and never for initial seeds on ConCen, when I did some people message or call me and say that they cannot connect because they were blacklisted as well. If there is a seeder they really are seeding, it's not an error just a malfunction in the junction - at the source, the destination or somewhere else along the pipes. RE: Reseed Request System Suggestions
Dunamis: Good point. Sometimes seeding takes a while to get started. (You are a perfectionist, but that doesn't invalidate your point. ;)
FT: I never use IP blacklists. Any nefariously-oriented monitors can switch IPs when their own gets blocked, and, as you noted, some legitimate peers won't get through (particularly if they're using an IP already blacklisted due to another source). ---Truth appears in many forms. RE: Reseed Request System Suggestions
What if the "seeder" has their torrent on Pause in uTorrent? I show up as a seeder when this is so. But yea, clearly that's a user issue, hadn't thought about that. Cheers FT!
Seriously, an adopt a torrent system would be ace, and I know yeti like the idea. "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked." -- 1 John 2:6

RE: Reseed Request System Suggestions
hey guys.. I like having the search bar at the top of the page, so if something strikes me, I can dig right in to it. I had previous asked that the sort order drop down, which was set to oldest to newest, be switched by default to newest to oldest, like the main page of the site. Someone switched the drop down order so it is now ascending instead of descending, but the page still lists content from oldest to newest. I still have to switch it twice to get it to show up properly; once to ascending so the drop down will align with the sort order, and then once more to reverse the order.
It's nothing major, but annoying. So instead I use back to get back to the sort page instead of just clicking through the site like normal to avoid having to reset the sort order. |
