I was wondering what would be the best way to promote my documentary on concen so everyone can see it. Maybe an important member on here can make a thread promoting the video before the release so I can get a lot of members to download it. MAybe yeti can send a private message to all the members?
My grand idea would be if yeti could sticky the torrent. I would be willing to make a donation to the site for a reasonable price. I don't have a ton of money but I would be willing to get some if yeti could sticky my video for a donation. I was thinking about buying a 100 seedboxes so it would show up on this site but the cheapest one I found was $4 for 1Gb of space. I don't know if that will be enough space and that would come to $400 dollars. I Don't know if that is worth it. Has anyone used edonkey? I tried it before but I didn't get any downloads. Does anyone know if there is a way to get 1000+ downloads using edoneky if I posted a random file (my video). I feel like people couldn't find my video on edonkey. If anyone has any ideas to get the video to people on the internet please share your thoughts. I am giving this out for free. P.S. I have a youtube channel already. I Tried rapidshare but it is hard because all the sites have so many posts that my post got lost with little views. The best I did was like 600 downloads. And I think I just got lucky that they accepted my post because they might have thought it was from the bbc. LOL If you have any suggestion let me know. And Let me know Yeti about the sticky thing. Because maybe you could set up some kind of sticky reservation designation for members that donate for it. Like x amount of $ for one week of stickyness, for a max of four weeks. And only 5 total torrents can be sticked at one time for all torrents and members. If there would be 5 sticky torrents already, the next donation would replace the longest sticky. or you could just que that sticky until the 1 week is up. Just some ideas yeti to get this site some donation money. But let me know what you think. |

One option is to use torrents and use every tracker possible along with the ConCen tracker. Put that at the top of the list when you make the torrent and then keep adding every tracker possible. Sign up for Demonoid if you aren't already a member as well as The Pirate Bay. Since this is a work of your own, you could even use the changed over Mininova tracker.

Ditto that for External Trackers, a key to maximize your distro. A good SEO friendly NFO file is important too. Here's a good starter guide with some tracker to get it seeded, be sure to list on hexagon.cc (isoHunt's sister site) TPB, h33t and demonoid.me and don't forget your required Downloaded from ....txt file in the package.
http://concen.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=28595 Do it up in a nice 2pass WS 700MB XViD (for a ~2 hour video) with standard nomenclature for best results. After that just drop a line in a few forums about it. If it's good it'll gain traction on its own. YouTube, Facebook and Twitter can be good for your promo too. RE: MY documentary coming to ConCen Soon (NEED YOUR HELP!!!!)
Thanks. I will check out the links you both gave me.
The size will be closer to 2Gbs. Do you think that this is too much? The smallest the file will be around 1.6Gbs. I think I will make it under 2Gbs because I heard in Australia a person is restricted to 2Gbs of download bandwidth per month. I am still deciding if I should make the audio quality 256 or 320 kbs. There will be a lot of music but the majority of clips are at 256. Making the audio 256 would reduce the file size by 100mbs. And I will make some kind of short video so everyone can view the video quality and see what the video will be like. By the way, does anyone know how to add a picture to the torrent description here on concen? Is it easy? I want to add the cover art. |

RE: MY documentary coming to ConCen Soon (NEED YOUR HELP!!!!)
I'm no expert on film-making or marketing, but I wouldn't worry about the size. You'll find others will re-encode it to suit themselves, or rip it from YouTube and convert it to a .avi or whatever. If people like it, you'll find there's actually a rather powerful distribution network out there at your disposal already.
Back in 2007 I rendered my 50 minute vid to fill a 4.7Gb DVD (which I kept back for myself) and then ripped that down to 1.1Gb and put the smaller file one of the big trackers. Within days someone had put it on YouTube and from there it got linked on a few alternative agregation websites for a while, reaching at least 250,000+ views overall. No doubt I was mostly speaking to the choir, but even if only one person changed their position as a result of my efforts it was worth it and it was good to know that I'd communicated to such a large group of individuals in some small way. I struck lucky (because in truth my vid wasn't really all that good!), but I did learn to be to be very, very, very careful before uploading. You'll be really pissed if you discover a typo just after you hit upload: and you will, believe me. It's amazing how they slip in there, as I'm sure others will confirm. If I did it again I'd force myself to wait seven days before uploading, no matter how pleased I was with the product, so I could watch it with fresh eyes. Sure you can release an updated version, like I did, but by it'll never overcome the impetus of the first in my experience (even today the sole remaining copy of my vid on YT is the early version). And... believe it or not..., in my haste to complete v2 I introduced a new typo anyway! If I did it again I think I'd send a link to news sites that link to vids, such as, to take one example, the Sovereign Independent and if the nature of the topic is such that there is a direct relationship with current affairs make sure to capitalise strongly on that, should a story appear in the headlines. Finally, how about sending a link to the radio show hosts who share a perspective similar to whatever is portrayed in your vid? Some of them might be quite open to having you on as a guest; especially those in the early morning: they often seem to struggle to fill their guest schedule. Anyway. Hope some of that helps. Good luck with your vid. I look forward to seeing it. RE: MY documentary coming to ConCen Soon (NEED YOUR HELP!!!!)
IanPotter, that's exactly how I feel! I even said the exact same thing you did! I am going to wait 7 days before uploading it, just to sit back and think about it. Then you said I might regret something and there's no going back. This is again, what I was thinking. Awhile ago, I uploaded something that I made, and now looking back, I wish I did a lot of things different. But there is no going back like you said once the video is uploaded.
I thought it would be funny if I landed on the Alex Jones show. LOL. But this is a pipe dream. I doubt I would go on his show even if he asked me, but if I did, I would give a shout out to concen. |

RE: MY documentary coming to ConCen Soon (NEED YOUR HELP!!!!)
Do you have a trailer or some clips available that can be used to create some interest in the documentary? That always helps if youre trying to get promotional recognition.
What is the documentary about? What's the title? Any info you can put out on it will get people talking and get it going across the web if you can make it interesting enough.
