Near Mars? On the face of it, that's obviously impossible! Earth is near Mars.

Could you please quote the line in the article you linked to that says Tyche is near Mars?

The ultra cold star is not in the main astroid belt between Jupiter and Mars and they don't say that it is. Why they would call a cold piece of rock an ultra cold star is beyond me.
