Census workers can enter your apartment in your absence
6:00 am May 26, 2010, by Bob Barr Thousands of census workers, including many temporary employees, are fanning out across America to gather information on the citizenry. This is a process that takes place not only every decade in order to complete the constitutionally-mandated census; but also as part of the continuing “American Community Survey” conducted by the Census Bureau on a regular basis year in and year out. What many Americans don’t realize, is that census workers — from the head of the Bureau and the Secretary of Commerce (its parent agency) down to the lowliest and newest Census employee — are empowered under federal law to actually demand access to any apartment or any other type of home or room that is rented out, in order to count persons in the abode and for “the collection of statistics.” If the landlord of such apartment or other leased premises refuses to grant the government worker access to your living quarters, whether you are present or not, the landlord can be fined $500.00. That’s right — not only can citizens be fined if they fail to answer the increasingly intrusive questions asked of them by the federal government under the guise of simply counting the number of people in the country; but a landlord must give them access to your apartment whether you’re there or not, in order to gather whatever “statistics” the law permits. In fact, some census workers apparently are going even further and demanding — and receiving — private cell phone numbers from landlords in order to call tenants and obtain information from them. Isn’t it great to live in a “free” country?

Do you think the training given by Markus Wolf to the US federal Govt. will have had an effect in bringing into being and normalising such grevious state intrusion?

I'm sure Wolf's ghost is alive and well, and living in Virgina somewhere, and the CIA will certainly continue to be grateful for his tutelage, but normalization of state intrusion wasn't really what he was about, right? Wasn't he about intruding on other states, rather than intruding on his own "citizen"ry? I'm no scholar on his biography, but wouldn't his scope of experience factor more into the CIA fomenting color revolutions than home invasion? I'd think he'd be disappointed in having his name tied with this when he worked so hard to be so subtle... not that I'm a fan, but I do admire his abilities... if only we had one of him...

RE: WTF!?!?! "Census workers can enter your apartment in your absence"
I was a census worker for a while, did it for the high pay. Not only were we allowed to get phone numbers from different sources, we could get the actual private info from a proxy such as a neighbor or manager. I dont know about you, but I wouldn't like it if I heard a neighbor released my info (name, DOB, race, etc) without my permission. I tried to keep from corruption like that, and only wrote down what the interviewees wanted to release.

Please, what is that? A blog? Where is the factual proof of what this guy is saying? Where is the link to anything that backs up his claims? And I catch shit for what I post? Who is this guy and why is what he is saying important? I could say that and if I did I would be bombarded with "PROVE IT". Jeez Louise.
Yeah I worked for the census too back in 1990 and if that was going on then no one knew about it. At least it wasn't talked about. So as far as my experience goes - he's full of shit. I want to see documentation of some sort that shows in some twisted ambiguous wording that that can be done. In other words I want to see the census guidelines. And here's something he doesn't tell you. There is a great amount of the population that IS NOT COUNTED. Simply because they live in RV's, Motels/Hotels, Abandoned buildings, Shelters, etc. In all my years of living (approx 50) I have NEVER, not once had to fill out a census form (including the time I worked for the census). Try and recognize disinformation when you see it. Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag and begin slitting throats. H. L. Mencken |
