Reality TV show filmed police raid that ended in shooting of girl
Sydney Morning Herald (Australia) - 05/18/10

US police who carried out a raid on a family home that left a seven-year-old girl dead were accompanied by a camera crew for a reality television show, and an attorney says video of the siege contradicts the police account of what happened.

Geoffrey Fieger, an attorney for the family of the dead girl, Aiyana Jones, said he has seen three or four minutes of video of the raid, although he declined to say whether it was shot by the crew for the A&E series "The First 48," which has been shadowing Detroit homicide detectives for months.

Police have said officers threw a flash grenade through the first-floor window of the two-family home, and that an officer's gun discharged, killing the girl, during a struggle or after colliding with the girl's grandmother inside the home.

But Fieger said the video shows an officer lobbing the grenade and then shooting into the home from the porch. "There is no question about what happened because it's in the videotape," Fieger said. "It's not an accident. It's not a mistake. There was no altercation."

"Aiyana Jones was shot from outside on the porch. The videotape shows clearly the officer throwing through the window a stun grenade-type explosive and then within milliseconds of throwing that, firing a shot from outside the home," he said.

A&E spokesman Dan Silberman said neither he nor anyone else from the network would comment about the case, and he denied a request by The Associated Press for the footage.

Detroit Police: We'll Review "All Tactics" Used In Deadly Raid
Michigan Public Radio - 05/17/10

Detroit Police say they will "review and assess" every tactic used during a raid in which a seven-year-old girl was killed this weekend. Ayana Jones was killed during an early morning raid on an eastside Detroit home. Early police reports said the girl was killed when an officer's gun discharged as he struggled with her grandmother inside the home.

The Michigan State Police will investigate the incident. Detroit Assistant Police Chief Ralph Godbee says the Department will also assess its own tactical choices during the raid, including the controversial use of a so-called "flash-bang" grenade.

"We understand that there are a number of questions about tactics that will be addressed at the appropriate time," Godbee stated. Godbee declined comment on accusations made by Jones family attorney Geoffrey Fieger.

Detroit Police Shoot and Kill 7-Year-Old-Girl
Fox Detroit - 05/16/10

A spokesperson for the Detroit Police Department says a 7-year-old girl named Ayanna Jones was accidently shot and killed by a DPD officer. It happened in the 4000 block of Lillibridge at 12:40 Sunday morning. According to Detroit Police, officers went to the house to arrest a murder suspect, with a valid search warrant.

The suspect was wanted in another crime that happened on Friday in Detroit. A 17-year-old high school student was shot and killed in front of a party store. They had reason to believe the man inside the home on Lillibridge was the gunman in that murder. Officers used a stun grenade to enter the home due to the violent nature of the original crime, which likely caused chaos and confusion.

There were several people inside, including Ayanna Jones . She was sleeping on the couch. There was some sort of confrontation between a woman inside and one of the officers. The officer's gun went off, fatally wounded the girl by hitting her in the head and neck area.

Ayanna was taken to Saint John's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The murder suspect was taken into custody.

yeah... it is... I'm sure the series of tubes is going to light up around this story, even though it seems the Fox affiliate in Detroit has pulled the coverage of it from its site...

The real story will come out: In order to make a good show for the camera, these pigs went WAAAAY above and beyond normal procedures in order to create a "shock and awe" atmosphere, to both create fear in their later targets and support from those militant pricks that are afraid of everything, and want a para-military force instead of "peace officers."

The 7 year-old girl was set ablaze by a flash-bang before she was shot...

Can you even imagine being her? To be set on fire as shock-troops are aligning to mob your only safe-haven, your home, feeling yourself being engulfed in flames immediately after being overwhelmed by the explosion of the grenade, and then being executed by an unseen gunman behind a wall? Jesus... she had seven years to experience the world, and that's how it ended.

Every human being should be ashamed by letting our circumstances come to this. WTF...

Arts & Entertainment...
I'm sorry for not being able to be more eloquent, but I think of my daughter (who's a few years younger,) and her half-sister everytime I look at this...

What The FUCK!?!?!?!?!

What the hell use are we if we aren't able to curb this kind of activity? Are we really that broken as a species?
