Fed Judge Finds Bush/nsa Surveillance Unconstitutional
Warrantless Wiretapping Unconstitutional
A US District court judge ruled in favor of the ACLU today, finding the National Security Agency's warrantless wiretapping to be unconstitutional. The Detroit judge ordered an immediate halt to the program. The case was filed to protect journalists, scholars and lawyers from government intrusion on the rights to free speech and privacy. The government positoned iteslf on presidential authority and state secrets. Enough information had already been publicly acknowledged, though, to make a ruling without secrecy.
