IRAN ACCUSES USA ''THEY ARE BEHIND THE ATTACK ON THE MOSQUE''
(AGI) - Tehran, 29 May According to the authorities of the south-eastern Sistan-Baluchistan province, the United States are behind the attack on the Iranian mosque in Zahedan in which 23 persons were killed. ''The ones responsible for this terrorist attack have been recruited by America'' said Jalal Sayyah, a high government official of Baluchistan, adding that security forces have carried out three arrests.
The attack on the section of the mosque reserved for women took place two weeks before the presidential elections on June 12 and on the day of the death of the daughter of the prophet Mohammed, Fatima Zahra, a holy day for the Shiites (almost all Iranians). In 2007 11 members of the Revolutionary Guard were killed in an attack carried out by the Sunnite Jundallah organisation (suspected of ties with al Qaeda) in Zahedan.
