Good message but you know what, the entire country of Iran isn't like that, lol. Thats the rich parts of the cities. Iran is still a 3rd world country.

Dubai and Saudia Arbia on the other hand is all like that.

Do you really think your a higher form of life? You...With your dripping jaws, and your bloodshot eyes. You...With your varicosities and your vermin for an appendix. You...with your hemroids and assterioids. Often I wake up at night and ponder these matters. And then I feel very strongly that I should talk them over with Brother Theodore...and then, and then I wake up fully and remember that I am Brother Theodore. And my heart aches. And my tears flow. And I see my Aunt Marie floating in the chicken soup...more dead than alive...more naked than not. And oh, now I see a mailman, a mailman giving birth to a dog of all things!

Never a moments peace, never a moments peace...never a moments peace.

No country is all like that.

The belief in 'coincidence' is the prevalent superstition of the Age of Science.

I lived in Iran for 2 years from 1977 to 1979 and it was not a beautiful land then it was a total shithole. There was a massive Chasm outside of our apartment where an earthquake had hit and it was at least 200 Ft deep.

The men all carried swords and at the markets it was a usual sight to see them hack away at each other over a disagreement. You never got to see a woman as they were always head to toe in black with Veils on. Thirty years on and no doubt it must have changed for the better but It remains somewhere i will never forget or ever want to return to.

I hate to break this to you but Tim Mcveigh is not still alive, Hitler was not a British Agent, Wallace Simpson was not a man, and DNA matching Skull and bones members was not found on Mars.

I've seen some travel videos of Iran (all pre-9/11/2001) and I can verify that it's definitely not all rundown and backwards as most people believe.

haha did you even think about what you just typed? "I saw some travel videos"

When I watch a travel video for California, do they show me how much of a shithole most of it really is? Or Mexico?
What is a travel video trying to make you do?

And very interesting about your experiances in Iran in the late 70's. I think your right that things must have majorly changed in the past 25 years, I think the middle east was flooded by American culture in the late 80's and from then on more and more. But still I am sure things are still the same fundamentally in a lot of ways. Think how much America has just changed since 79.

Depends where you were living, what size/kind of region was it? I'll bet you that most places except the larger cities were probably like that at that time.

I'm not talking about some Conde Nast production or something funded by the country to promote tourism. I'm talking about videos made more for educational purposes, and where the host (and his camera crew) have to "rough it", not always staying in nice places and focusing on both the bad and good. I.e. one was more along the lines of Michael Palin's travels. And I do remember that one was produced by Glober Trekker (formerly known as Lonely Planet).
