I got some meal replacement shakes today which is basically your daily nutrition in a few cans. That should make me feel a little bit better.

John Doe 1984 if you don't mind me asking, how old were you when they were taken out? I know once you go beyond 25 it just takes that much longer to heal.

I was 29. I expected 2 or 3 weeks but I was washing those holes out for months it seemed like.

I had my 2-upper molars ripped out when I was around 20-years old. I was on a local anesthetic, not under. Lot's of crunching and snapping noises and the doc (oral surgeon) about has his knee in my face because of the angle they were growing in at. He recommended a couple of tea bags for the bleeding, worked like a charm. No pain killers afterword as pain is the easiest thing to forget in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure I ate something the next day, worked construction then and was always hungry. I could find a way to eat. Had a root canal once, ate right afterword and chewed the whole side of my mouth up. Didn't realize it until after the painkiller went away, heh heh.

There was a day when whiskey was the only anesthetic. I considered myself lucky to be alive in the 80s.

Yeah I always wonder about the old days before they could even sanitize things. Must have been something awful. I was luckily put under through IV sedation. Which was basically just pumping me with enough drugs to turn off the "memory" section of my brain.

It's not even anything to do with pain. It's just extremely annoying and frustrating when you have to take such little nibbles of everything. When 20 minutes have gone by and you have only made it to the halfway point of a banana, it gets frustrating.

I go back this week to make sure everything is healing ok. The swelling is already going down so that's a good sign I guess.

I went to an oral surgeon also since I didn't want a general dentist doing it.

I hope this is over soon...

My sympathies sincerely. I had never been to a dentist before up to that point so I didn't know any better. The local anesthesia was cheaper and anything was better than the pain. Toothaches will bring even the toughest guy to tears.

If your young, count your blessings, you heal up right quick, and be good to go on those 3000 calories very soon. Might be a good time to consider juicing fruits and veggies if your not't already doing so. You will heal even quicker and feel better on top of it, plus it will help your body detoxify since you are not eating anything real heavy.

Was crazy recently. Woke up today and most of the swelling is gone. I had sandwiches, subway, and some sherbert with no problems.

Absolutely. The thing is I have hyperthyroidism, which basically means it constantly runs in overdrive. If I don't have a surplus of calories then I lose weight which is no fun. The problem is, the only way to "cure" the problem is to have doctors

1. Give me a dose of radioactive iodine that will kill a part of it so it's "normal." However, it can kill too much, then I have the opposite problem.

2. They do surgery and remove part of the thyroid. Once again, they could remove enough to convert me to the opposite way. Also, if they remove too much for that I will have to take pills the rest of my life.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather eat 3000+ calories a day then do surgery or having radioactive iodine shot into my neck.
