This is Jeffrey Hamm's autobiographical book Action Replay (1983) where this british fascist sets out to write about the events which occured in England's fascist movement and his own involvment in them. Hamm was one of the handful of activists who kept the flame of British Nationalism alive in the barren years following the Second World War. A life-long supporter of Sir Oswald Mosley, he served in the original British Union of Fascists (BUF), and the post-war Union Movement (UM), later to become Oswald Mosley's personal secretary and one of Union Movements leading figures. Following his discharge from the army, Hamm set up the 'British League of Ex-Servicemen and Women', which sought to look after veterans interests, as well as keep Mosley's ideas current. Seeking to keep British fascism alive, Hamm organized a series of meetings in Hyde Park from November 1944 onwards, later moving them to the traditional BUF areas of East London. Hamm's League rallies eventually began to attract thousands, convincing him that a proper political return was a distinct possibility. He soon began calling on Mosley to return to the leadership of British fascism and incorporated his own British League into the Union Movement immediately upon its foundation in 1948. Hamm became a leading member of the new UM and stood as a candidate for them in the United Kingdom general election 1966. It is interesting to note that today fascism is understood as evil all over the world but it is seldomly spoken of in England as if it would never have existed there. Instead many westerners believe that the its only occurence was in Germany and Italy. Although this is no book which exposes the false promises made by fascists it nevertheless serves as a warning to all those who think that the rise of a fascist state can't happen in their own country. Always comming under the banner of national patriotism and always ending in flames and endless suffering of millions who think that "ein Welt, ein Gott und ein Fuhrer" are the only solution to world's problems. 130 pages. A must read for everyone.
