Gender roles

hello. new here. just thought i'd jump into the mix without the usual "who i am" stuff.

i'm doing research for a paper on the history of stereotypical male gender roles and why it is bull in modern society. Not exactly everyone's piece of cake but I gather from the topics on the forum that this is probably the best place to start.

So if anyone has any thoughts on where and when i might start looking, i'd greatly appreciate it. I've already started looking into jackson katz's theories but getting the info *for free* remains a problem. i am planning to support the theories by looking at video games that promote male gender "rules". its a little chaotic ;) at the moment.
