Filetopia
Filetopia is a free communications software that includes: instant messaging, chat, a powerful file sharing system with a search engine, online friends list and message boards.
What is unique to this software is the level of security and privacy that it provides. It uses a choice of strong ciphers and public key techniques for all communications and sophisticated techniques to protect your IP and thus make you truly anonymous and safe from attacks. Filetopia Home I have a room there called A Big Secret listed in the General section that is in Chans. It is at the top of the screen.:grin:All truth seekers welcome! |

Filetopia
Hey, I used to use Filetopia all the time...well, idle in the rooms and share my files. I remember joining your room on occasion. It sucks however that the Filetopia client has not been updated since 2002, and it stopped terminating properly when I closed it down. It would still run in the background. That software desperately needs to be updated.:(

<span style="color:#3333FF">Well I have never had that problem, it works for me and yes it would be great if they updated their client.

Knowing what this client is capable of, I would not trust it within 50 feet of my system.I'm sure the users here have only good intentions, but installing this piece of software on your computer is to beg for trouble.

<span style="color:#3333FF">Well I have never, like many others that I know use it have no such problems/trouble and have been using it for years! What's particularly scary about this client is that if someone with access to the host services decides to gain access to your computer without your consent, you'd probably never know unless you have quite a bit knowledge about these things and have software specifically aimed to target them. What I'm saying is that in theory you might have had "problems" from the day you started using Filetopia, without ever noticing it. I'm not accusing the programmers of having a shady agenda, but one might ask ourselves why the host has access to parts of your computer that is irrelevant for the service they're providing. I advise all Filetopia users to check this up themselves. There's literally hundreds of similar programs that don't have these "extra features", maybe it's better to be safe than sorry... |
