US blocks Iran leader 9/11 visit
The New York authorities have rejected a request from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to visit the site of the 11 September 2001 attacks.

The Iranian president will arrive in New York on Sunday to address the United Nations General Assembly.

A New York police spokesman said the World Trade Center site was closed to visitors because of construction work.

He said requests by Mr Ahmadinejad to visit Ground Zero would be opposed on security grounds.

New York Police Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said the Iranian leader had asked the permission of the police department, the US Secret Service and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to visit the site.

White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe told reporters it seemed "more than odd that the president of a country that is a state sponsor of terror would visit Ground Zero".

And Zalmay Khalilzad, the United States ambassador to the UN, told journalists that the US would not support Iran using the site for a "photo op".

But a spokesman for the Iranian mission to the UN said they were still hopeful of finding some way for Mr Ahmadinejad to pay respect to the victims of the 2001 attacks.

Tensions between the US and Iran are high amid Washington's claims that Tehran is arming militants in Iraq and seeking to develop nuclear weapons.

Him visiting the former WTC site (I refuse to call it 'ground zero' WTF is that about huh) doesn't fit in with the continual bullshit we are fed about Iran. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has a soul, you could tell that from the 60 minutes interview he did, the guy isn't a threat and anyway, since when did it fit into "justice" to claim some guy (Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) is guilty when he has done nothing? The Bush Administration and the media are out and out racists towards Persians and pro Israeli. Why do they favour one race over another like this? I am sick of this shit, real fucking sick of it.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wrote a 17 page letter to Bush, but Bush did not respond, he just wants to bomb the shit out of Iran - we can't have Mahmoud Ahmadinejad DISCUSSING OR REASONING WITH BUSH no of course, that would MAKE SENSE.

What a fucking despotic system you have in the USA, just utterly fucking disgraceful.

Here's an idea - why not stop bombing countries who are innocent? Why not stop demonizing Persians and Arabs? How can Bush and Co get away with claiming the crap they claim? Dunno why I am asking this since I know, its always to do with Israel's leaders, always using the US as a tool, they can't have Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visiting the US, he is the bogey man remember! Ooooooooh Mahmoud Ahmadinejad he is under YOUR bed! Quick, bomb Iran, quick they might kill us all!!!

Just on a side note, wouldn't you think they would have put(moved) the UN building in a "neutral" country, not in a NATO one. This refers to one of Ahmadinejad's aids being refused entry to the US.

Israel's friends are calling for the arrest of Iran's president in advance of his arrival next week in New York City

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be in New York for the opening of the new session of the United Nations General Assembly.

On Monday, a team of lawyers and diplomats who want Ahmadinejad tried for inciting genocide will call on the U.S. Department of Justice to arrest the Iranian president when he arrives on American soil.

"He is an international war criminal," said Harvard Law School Professor Alan Dershowitz. "He has repeatedly violated the anti-genocide convention. He is as guilty as the Rwandans who are convicted and sentenced to years in prison for inciting genocide."

Ahmadenijad's visit has been roiling New York for days. A scheduled appearance at Columbia University has prompted calls for the school to rescind the invitation. Columbia refused, invoking the principle of free speech. The New York City Police Department also announced that it would not accompany Ahmadinejad to Ground Zero as he had requested, though some reports suggest he plans to travel there anyway.
