A Question for Christians on God
Quote:Easy Skanking, I am like CTRL, except I do ocassionally go, actually I think I have been about 3 or 5 times since 05, but that is good for me. Not all churches require that you don't ask, my wife's, before we met did. As far as updates, if it is pure, no updates are needed. Like science, I think that religion has been used by TPTB for their own control too. I was Episcopalian a.k.a. Catholic without the guilt. My best friends in school were a Baptist preacher's son and a faithful Church of Christ attendee. I got to see Christianity from several perspectives which was definitely an eye opener for me. Even though mine was the most liberal of the 3, it was still unable to provide me any answers beyond "Well because the Bible says so." It all felt so fake, contrived and unbelievable. Aside from not having answers that satisfied my intellect or spirit, the attitudes of large portion of the church goers I have met has been despicable. Most, not all. There's nothing like having former fellow congregates ignore you because you don't go to church anymore or target you because of your appearance and try to witness for you. So I have naturally come to despise organized religion for the hypocritical behavior of some of it's members. IMO, religion or spirituality is a personal thing. Only you know what is right for you. You can learn from others but ultimately you have to decide what you believe or agrees with you or brings you peace. I don't mind discussing my views and ideas at all, unorthodox as they are, and would never dream of shoving my views down another's throat like a lot of the folks here in the bible belt love to do. The basic messages Christianity or Islam have are pretty good. It's all of the extra Dogmatic crap that gets piled on top that is the problem. “Today’s scientists have substituted mathematics for experiments, and they wander off through equation after equation, and eventually build a structure which has no relation to reality. ” -Nikola Tesla "When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace." -Jimi Hendrix |
