Starting this weekend I am officially hording. So far I have two 24 packs of bottled Kroger water, 24 rolls of toilet paper, and about 18 assorted canned food products. Every week when I go shopping I plan on addinfg the same ammount to the pile so within a year I'll have..... a ton of toilet paper

Just the usual, 1 1/2 freezers - beef, 1 freezer - pork, 1/2 freezer of all kinds of sweet peppers, a few gallons of wild black berries, 56 (so far) quarts of home grown corn, 97 qts of green beans (+ last years left overs) and we will probably have about 20-30 more quarts at the end of the month. We lost count on jellies and tomatos and juice, 3 Qts honey, about 6 lbs of Amish butter, 50 lb of flour, 50 lb of rice (2 kinds), 100 lbs of sugar, a few lbs of Stevia. Not sure about tolietries but my wife buys by the gross. We now get our own eggs. Lots of defense/barter items more than food. lol. 8 cars/trucks that stay full. Extra clothes and shoes. Lots of hand tools and small parts. Plus our animals. Lately I'm switching all buildings to Solar Motion Lights. There is more but can't think right off bat. More or less the usual for us.

How about power and water supply? If that goes off, your frozen food goes bad within 3 days and how will you dispose of your human waste?

One up on that, power totally optional. We have a sistern, hand operated water pump, generator, but will use long enough to grin and dehydrate most meat, some will be canned. Peppers and other veges will be pickled, corn will be canned. If the generator fails, we also have hand operated grinders. Waste is funny, we dispose of it the way I did when we were kids. That doesn't answer the bear in the woods, but it gives a hint. lol. Our house has a basement, also a wood burning stove, but underground temps do not change that much. Then again, if mobile, learn how a store bought and installed tent will not work. Which ammo is easier to carry in bulk, and which isn't. Clothes that blend in. A few vitamins, collidial silver maker, some needle and thread.

I'll have to check out that link. Right now, eating my words right now watching Dr. Horowitz "In Lies We Trust". I must admit, he knows his crap.

It's hard to stock months of water when you need 2 litres per person per day minimum. Better to get a couple ways to filter water and either map out some good sources and/or set up a way to collect rain water. Well if you have land you can add a cistern and a pump run off of solar. I don't believe in owning land. Japanese internment camps taught me that. If they want you off the land, they can do it.

I've got enough food, supplies, and bottled water for the two of us for 3 months and that takes up a lot of space. Particularly the water. Plus I've saved my empty water bottles and filled them with tap water for non drinking use. I figure that if I can't replenish my stocks within that time then things aren't going to get much better anytime soon and it'll be time to leave for good. Probably before then but more than 3 months of supplies in the city is wasting money I can put to other use.

Decent camping gear, but, camping gear isn't meant to be lived in indefinitely so medium to long term shelter building has been an interest of mine of late. You may need that tent again if you have to move more than once. A small selection of tools but you can only carry so much.

Wild foods like plants, seaweeds, and small game hunting with snares and traps. Fire by friction. Better to carry tools to help you feed yourself and keep yourself hydrated and dry than packing food that's just going to run out.

I'd rather be in a community, but I've generally loathed people so I've got no friends anyway... :)

On the water, I keep a Collidial silver maker so that we can clean out germs, then again, a quick boil will do the same I guess. CS will however kills germs if cut. Large amounts of land they will either take or make a person a serf, but we have just 45 acres total. My things lately have been digging ponds, mostly for livestock. You can do without food more so than water, good call. Food is abundant. As for shelter, if on the run a waterproof blanket or tarp, a shovel, few leaves or grass and you have a home. Light weight ammo, anything bigger need you can probably pick up on the ground.

Communities will be good, except small. very small ones. The more that is in it, the greater the chance of drawing attention. Just a few thoughts.
