An interesting thread, however, I am a little surprised that a thread about individuality is so crammed with quotes and clips etc. of OTHER PEOPLES ideas about individuality. I don't care about Ayn Rands vision because it was hers. Interesting to read but it's funny to me how many peole bang on about how individual they are when their heads are so full of other peoples ideas and opinions. Just an observation. Great thread though.

I care a lot because her insane philosophy has been used as an excuse for sociopaths to justify their greed.

Just because I read about others' ideas and opinions doesn't mean I act on them.

RE: Signing of Bill HR 347 - Obama Makes Free Speech A Felony
After much debate on the quandary of Individualism vs Collectivism at least a few of us here at ConCen came to a real-eyes-ation; individually of our own accord that neither polarization is correct all the time. It's about finding that balance and using the best tool while respecting our fellows.

Anything short of that is manifest from either of these ideological planks, either for the rationalization of co-dependence or for personal/factional gain.

There are no others, there is only us.

Fair point on the Rand thing. I didn't mean to insinuate that people don't have their own opinions (this is ConCen I know you all have your own opinions)Icon_biggrin. I just wish sometimes some people could express what they think on a subject without resorting to the words of others to make their case. ps. really glad to be back after a long time away. I missed this place.
