Haters of Humanity: The Church of Malthus
'Church of Malthus evangelist, Paul Gilding in his "the Earth is Full" talk, tells us one million years of human progress has "finally" reached its limits. This is a tale that has been fallaciously told for at least the last 200 years since crackpot economist Thomas Malthus warned of imminent societal collapse based on a growing population - a prediction, like those of a suicidal doomsday cult, that has been demonstratively and repeatedly proven wrong. Gilding also attempts to link "climate change" in as a manifestation of our reached limits.'

That about sums it up.

I have watched scores of 'TED Talks'. I estimate 95% of them throw in 'since the earth is dying' as a justifying premise for whatever useless technology or program they are seeking government funding for.

The audience of 'intellectuals' nod in religious acceptance of this article of faith, and then the speaker continues describing his "edgy/hip/innovative/out-there" solution nobody needs. The intellectuals coo with ecstasy at how smart they are.

It's more pathetic than watching Appalachian fundamentalist preachers do snake handling because those preachers actually take risks to entertain their audiences.
