More than one in 10 Scots 'on anti-depressants'
Quote:More than one in 10 Scots 'on anti-depressants' I wonder how much of the depression is caused by poor, or in some cases, no nutrition: Quote:Breadline Scotland: Thousands of families to be given food handouts because they can no longer make ends meet Thousands of families starve while 65% of the population is overweight (& 28% obese)? No wonder so many are on anti-depressants. |

RE: More than one in 10 Scots 'on anti-depressants'
They need to legalize medical Marijuana over there like the 16 states in USA
http://medicalmarijuana.procon.org/view....eID=000881 Then the bipolars and the rest can get off not just the harmful meds but also other harmful street drugs and smoke really strong high quality weed on a daily basis instead which won't even give them a hangover and if coupled with NO ALCOHOL, NO REFINED SUGAR and a strict high-protein-low-carb diet containing lots of Hemp-food and Micro-Plant-Powder detox will help cure them of most of their anxieties within a year or so. Even if they don't get cured, it's guaranteed that they will improve. It's that simple. Diet is absolutely key and killing the mainstream TV also does wonders for paranoia. Few psychiatrists today will do this for their patient because they risk losing their license. |

Maybe they should do a diet deep-fried Mars bar!
![]() Yummy! Quote:We did a telephone survey in June, 2004, of a random selection of the 627 fish and chip shops in Scotland to ascertain the delicacy's availability, cost, and consumption. The response rate was 62% (303 of 488 telephoned): 66 (22%, 95% CI 17·2—26·4) shops sold deep-fried Mars bars, 235 (78%, 72·9—82·3) did not, 51 (17%, 108—66) had sold them in the past, and for two the person we spoke to did not know. 72% of shops had been selling them for 3 years or less. |

Are Scots drinking less scotch whiskey? That could explain the increase in anti-depressants....

RE: More than one in 10 Scots 'on anti-depressants'
Price of a bottle of whisky is already 72% tax:
http://www.heraldscotland.com/price-of-a...x-1.845436 Quote:Alcohol served as Scotch Whisky is taxed 250% higher than the same amount of alcohol served as cider, 37% higher than beer and 30% higher than wine. Anti-depressants to replace alcohol? Reminds me of a couple of Bertrand Russell quotes: Quote:Diet, injections, and injunctions will combine, from a very early age, to produce the sort of character and the sort of beliefs that the authorities consider desirable, and any serious criticism of the powers that be will become psychologically impossible. Even if all are miserable, all will believe themselves happy, because the government will tell them that they are so. Quote:Perhaps by means of injections and drugs and chemicals the population could be induced to bear whatever its scientific masters may decide to be for its good. New forms of drunkenness involving no subsequent headache may be discovered, and new forms of intoxication may be invented so delicious that for their sakes men are willing to pass their sober hours in misery. |

Quote:More people die by suicide than from road accidents and drug deaths put together. It is the leading cause of death in young men. How sad. It's time find and to publish the reasons why. SSRIs & suicidal ideation maybe?

Plus the diet Irn-Bru. ![]() Seriously though Glasgow being high in numbers as the poverty is especially bad there. All the factors are added to create the huge and growing problem. |
