RE: Boy kept home after school insists he cuts off ponytail
I had some time and checked into the link further and found http://www.alenz.org/mirror/khason/why-m...ith-c.html which notes that programmers with beards have had more success with designing programming languages than those without. I've never had a need to design a programming language, however I'm curious as to whether or not programmers with long hair and/or beards write more solid (less buggy) code than those who shave. Programming is a highly intuitive process, and requires a fair amount of hunting and killing in terms of problem solving and troubleshooting.

Question is how much dirt and grime and stink are civilized human beings willing to tolerate? As long as you clean your long hair and meet the standards of hygiene then you're ok, even if your hair comes down to your even hairier and smellier ass, which needless to add, you will also have to either shave or clean with industrial grade soap.

YOU THE HIPPIE have to take the extra responsiblity of the extra long showers you'll have to take to clean your extra-stanky hair. You cannot pass this responsiblity to innocent bystanders in the form of nauseating odors.

There should be a smell test, if they don't pass it, they go the fuck home whether they're crew-cuts or long-hairs or Abraham Lincoln beards with dogshit stuck in it.

Long hair is usually not a problem to clean with some effort. Dreadlocks are almost impossible to wash though. A single tiny lice in the dreadlocks detected is grounds for immediate disqualifiction from all institutions of learning created by Western civilization for the betterment of hygenically challenged savages. LOL

You can repeal your banishment after you disinfect and delouse your entire head. This is much easier to do by just shaving your head instead of trying to go lice-hunting inside the tangled maze of a typical Bob Marley do.

i think we have had debates in public vs private schools in regards to this. "strict dress codes" can apply to both. this is not the issue. full private schooling excludes the poor, thats why you have public schools.

The issue is really more to do with the school and its teachers and head. They have a puritanical thread running around there it seems. As far as i was aware, no one has a right to a certain hair style unless it accords to some religious sentiment. If the school has that code the parent has the right to take his kid somewhere else surely. public or private.

Im not sure such a rule would apply in public schools in the uk for example. such a rule would be banned simply because choice of hairstyle isnt an issue to education. If a head teacher in a private school did this in the uk they would be within their rights to exclude. such "rules" only undermine any trust teachers have with kids. stupid rules make those that enforce it look pretty dumb.

A non issue. however hair is like a car, house, phone, suit. its what many in society prefer to use for quick categorising. To say it doesn't exist is folly. i hope the parent faces such discrimination head on and wins through. judge by works not hairstyle.

Be a man and suck it up!

Industrial grade soap? WTF are you on? And would you be so kind as to share? :)

The long hair thing is simply another example for trying to force conformity. They dont WANT you to think for yourself. They dont WANT you to act on your own. They dont WANT you to dress differently.

They want us all to become round pegs. Because ROUND pegs fit in the whole a hell of a lot easier than SQUARE ones.

They want you to assimilate and conform.

FUCK THAT! I think his dad was right to stand his ground. He'll find another school. Granted, there has to be some conformity in life to get by, but becoming like everyone else? No thanks...

this is nothing but FULL CONTROL BY THE FUKN bastards that sit in government. Nothing to do with a pony tail, but testing the sheeple of how they would react to government baby controls on not justly pony tails, but some freaking administrator gone riding on their horse and government not there to protect our bodies rights or our hair rights or full distraction.
