It's obvious Charlie is a very emotional guy. I empathize with that.
I was a lot younger than he is when I figured out that "unconditional love" was total steaming bullshit. He still hasn't it seems. I've been a much better handler of my friendships ever since I started seeing them for what they really are. I don't take them lightly. I saw friends meet, form a relationship and become couples based on the "unconditional love" concept. Of course their relationship flipped like a switch from "unconditional love" to hate, as they burned away each other's energy and money attacking each other. Relationships can become love, but they start with respect. I can buy the idea of "unconditional respect", IOW give people you are meeting the benefit of doubt that they are not flakes. They might do the same. That's how you do it. The rest is bullshit, especially when you use emotion to set false expectations...
