Royal Wedding preventative arrests in Edinburgh
Well in Edinburgh there were people held without charge for "suspected for planning to disturb the peace".
i got a text message which was kinda funny but scary at the same time. A friend who is a policeman text messaged me today saying and i quote "Hi Pax[not putting my real name here..lol], i was working royal protection this week and we were given a list of people and organisations who "dislike" the royals, your name was on it as was Siol Nan Gaidheal with instructions to arrest on sight ,and LISTEN TO THIS[his emphasis] for suspicion of breach of the peace even if they have done nothing!on Saturday a guy who's name was very close to yours got arrested and he was detained in his flat by two officers for "planning to breach the peace by disturbing the royal wedding at the cannongate".. and for a split second i thought it was you!.. this isn't the police service i joined and it's beginning to get to me. the guy was detained till 6pm today then let go about his way" the text message came in two parts as it was too long for a single message. the odd thing is while i truly could not give a shit about the royals and think they are a waste of space i also wouldn't waste a day or even a minute protesting at their wedding. they just don't interest me in that way. they are just a waste of money and not relevant in the 21st century and haven't been for a while. i phoned him later and he said these preventative arrests are of dubious legality as he sees it under Scottish Law and it's very different to England in that we are even more heavily based in common Law and have very little in statute. He is a very decent guy who is having a very hard time doing things that are not included or have precedence set by judgments in relation to the Police, Public Order and Criminal Justice Act (Scotland) 2005. He was saying that if in the next while he can get another job that will support his family and pay the bills he will seriously consider it.
