RE: The Anti-Israeli Conspiracy
British Intervention caused a lot of confusion here with both the mapmakers and those who laid national claim to the land.
I post things here because I like to see them vetted out and that you did in classic ConCen fashion... truly Maptastic! My point was more to the contention for jurisdictional national territory and these arbitrary lines in regards to the fact they are almost always in flux. Quote:In 1832 Palestine was conquered by Muhammad Ali's Egypt, but in 1840 Britain intervened and returned control of the Levant to the Ottomans in return for further capitulations. The end of the 19th century saw the beginning of Zionist immigration and the Revival of the Hebrew language. The movement was publicly supported by Great Britain during World War I with the Balfour Declaration of 1917. The British captured Jerusalem a month later, and were formally awarded a mandate in 1922. The non-Jewish Palestinians revolted in 1920, 1929 and 1936. In 1947, following World War II and the Holocaust, the British Government announced their desire to terminate the Mandate, and the United Nations General Assembly voted to partition the territory into a Jewish state and an Arab state. The Jewish leadership accepted the proposal but the Arab Higher Committee rejected it; a civil war began immediately, and Israel was declared in 1948.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestine#Modern_period I make this point for the region not a particular side of the claim to land area. Home is where people are. Have some respect for the current residents' claims because they live in a house there no matter how they got it or what nationality they subscribe to. Protect whoever is there right now with their families and communities and then maybe some healing can begin rather than opt to a perpetual pinwheel of vengeance and more of that take it back mentality. Any undeveloped land can be split by lottery to familiesthat have had their homes bulldozed, bombed, burned or IED'd. That might not happen anytime soon because the perception of the neighbourhood has painted Israel into a corner especially after the election in Egypt. Yeah maybe the government deserves it and even some select military trigger pullers but each and every Israeli family shouldn't be persecuted. That said, the most rational course of action for any Israeli, at the moment, would be to flee for their lives while (or maybe if) they still can. The foot is coming down and the other steel camel toed boot is soon to follow. There are no others, there is only us. http://FastTadpole.com/ |
